Based on Yamaha MT-07, will be introduced on the 9th Edition of the Biennale Internationale Design, France.

Brown leather seat covering the whole bike like a horseback, has got a very small fuel tank (they don't say how small) beneath it.

The wrist watch is a wireless rev counter, with ODO counter and Neutral indication.

I wouldn't know whether to ride it, or to fit a sink in the laminated undertray. As for the wristwatch? If you're going to fart around with wireless tech, I would have gone for something less distracting.

Whats to discuss?

It has no mudguards, no lights, no provision for a licence plate. Doesn't even have a air filter.

Oh, and it looks shit.

It's a badly executed exercise in design and it's never going to be a road going bike, simple as that.

Some bearded twat in open toed sandals will win a design award for it. Why can't these pillocks occasionally come up with something new, innovative and actually useable?

Looks like someone had a half finished project bike in the garage amongst their crap with a surfboard on top and just thought "Bugger it, that'll do..."

People always say that and the moan when someone makes a bike that looks different and new.

The bikes a design exercise. Nothing wrong with that.

Wasn't this designed by Yamaha musicians? Hence the has all the bits it needs to make noise but will make you suffer for your art?

I gave up wearing a wrist watch because it sits right at the cuff off my jacket, and is either just uncomfortable or causes my left glove to be too wide to tuck inside my leathers for summer ventilation.

I don't think designers of musical instruments get ergonomics at all. I have an array of roland and korg synths. They do the music bit well, but the controls are badly thought out. Roland pitch/mod controllers that move with little force in the pitch direction (left/right) but need to be pushed so hard in the mod (backwards) direction the keyboard moves on the stand if one gets too enthusiastic.

As for guitars, well that's just an exercise in not enough thought going into the design. I'll leave out the mockingbird, flying v, warlock and other guitars i did not keep long.

I have a much hotrodded Stratocaster. The body has curves in all the right places and it is comfortable, but is compromised by a terrible bridge design and a slow-playing neck. Pickups and switchgear replaced and control layout redesigned so it all works properly.

I have an Ibanez ART. It is beautifully made and with the artcore pickups ripped out and replaced with some DiMarzios, it sounds pretty good. It has decent weight and balance. It does most of what I need to do very well. It's let down by small contours and cutaways due to its traditional shape. Bridge is well thought out.

Then there is the Maverick X1, the allegedly the cutting edge of guitar design when it was made. It's amazing to play, a wide thin neck with a very deep lower cutaway. The control layout is controversial but simple and easy to operate. The stock pickups are perfectly matched to the tonewoods and as such it sounds amazing. It has a decent modern vibrato system that works extremely well and can withstand a lot of abuse. It's my go-to stage guitar because it will do everything I need, has never let me down with a technical failure on stage or in the studio and it looks pretty good. So how did they compromise it? It's too heavy, it won't fit in a flight case that hasn't been custom-made for it due to it's size, and the upper horn stabs you in the chest if you try to play it sat down. This is problematic for me as a tall guy with disproportionately short legs and long body, so for regularly sized people and anyone with boobs it's thereabouts unplayable.

I had a yamaha pacifica briefly, it was dull and uninspiring.

I use a Yamaha DG-1000 preamp with my high-tech band, it sounds the part but freaks out many musicians becasue the knobs on the front are powered and move on their own when the device recieves midi signals.

There are some Yamaha digital pianos and portatone keyboards in the inventory. They're actually quite good as they sound reasonable and when faced with a choice between a compromised feature or not having the feature, there appears to not be that feature.

Perhaps this was an exercise in teaching yamaha's music department about making instruments that one can live with by letting them design, build and ride an completely compromised motorcycle.

Why? Sick

The gods ought to slay the designer/s of this monstrosity, banish them to the darkest abyss and resurrect John Britten in their stead.

Like that log balancing thing, I imagine it's to stir up a bit of discussion and for pictures to be passed around with the site's web address-bearing logo on them. It should get them a few hits.
