As this is coming up soon (end Oct I think), I might go along to it this year. Thing is I'm really looking at getting a few bits for my bike (new helmet, decent lock and chain and pos. few other bits) and I was wandering if people who've been before reckon if its up to much for getting bargains for that sort of stuff. If its more centred around new bikes then I might give it a miss as I don't want to be tempted with getting another one yet Razz

I have to say that there seem to be less bargins over the last few years. Infact last year I'm sure I saw things at exatly the same price as they were in my local bike shop. Still, if you are looking for some tarty bits (huggers, screens, cans etc.) then you can still grab a bargin, although you will have spent money getting there, getting in, buying food etc, so it might not be such a bargin anyway.

I've given up with the nec show. Its too crowded and I got pissed off with getting clobbered by bulky objects such as exhausts, paddock stands and tyres that people insist on buying and carrying around all day.

I was there last year went on a tuesday, had loads of space to walk around without banging into to many people, flew there and back same day, there were some bargins in the helmet section but not a lot more than that you really had to haggle to get any money off

Go for the experience if you've not gone before. Otherwise don't bother. Most things are overpriced and bargains are very difficult to find. Thumbs Down Some things are priced more highly than you can buy them in bike shops, which is saying something. Neutral

it depends what you're going for,

If you're looking for bargains, it's not worth it: go to the BMF shows for that.

if you're looking to see all the latest '07 models in the flesh (pun intended) and have a seat/fiddle with them (the bikes at least) then it's definately worth a visit.

I'm not going, I thought it was crap the last couple of years and more and more manufacturers are not going - no Aprilia, Guzzi, and this year no Ducati either. So I'm going to the Milan show instead, two weeks later and £40 plane ticket.

Went last year, tracked down a replacement visor for my (then helmet) shark xri and a fabric jacket to match my trousers. Went on the sunday (when it chucked it down so wasn't up for rideouts) and generally milled around. Far too many far too skinny and far too young "women" draped all over the bikes in my oppinion...

Prices were ok for bits and bobs but you could probably get cheaper on-line. Was handy for me to try on lots of different boots though to find a pair that fitted and were reasonably cheap.

Cheers for the replies chaps Thumbs Up

As it sounds like its not that good for bargains there I might give it a miss. As said, it'd cost a fair bit to get up there, hotel etc and any savings made would outweigh the benefit. Scantily clad birds with their tits hanging out don't do it for me.... Razz

A serious question for you guys here then, how would you feel if it were scantily dressed men hanging all over the bikes at these shows??

Why shouldnt we girls get something good to look at, ah yes but of course we go to look at the bikes and not perve over some twig sat on one Laughing

And believe it or not, not all men like these skinny girls, some like some with something to grab hold of and not just skin and bone.

So who has any decent pics of bikes without the girls in the way as would love to see since unable to go this year Sad

No problem at all with it, as long as they moved out of the way. There were a couple of blokes dressed only in boxer shorts last year on a stand for female biker clothing.
