so tonight i got that phone call that I'm sure we all dread from my housemates girlfriend, she was watching tv and heard a loud bang, as she looked out the window she saw a black Hyundai racing off and people looking at my bike on the floor in bits.
turns out they'd some how managed to hit my bike which was in a recessed parking bay that drivers had managed to avoid for the last month or 2 that I've been parking there
turns out no one got the number plate so all they could do which im thankful for is pick the bike up off the floor and put it back on its now bent stand.
got back from work to assess the damage looks like there's some chassis damage but fingers crossed I'm wrong sub frame is definitely bent and its original panels are in bits.
police have been a bit useless, but i suppose bigger fish to fry and all that jazz they're supposed to be coming around later today
poor little nsr was in mint condition, will be a shame if its fewked Sad

Insist on Dibble doing a report, you'll need it for your MIB untraced driver claim.

have had a look already and it all depends on the direction he went
if he went towards stratford or down leyton high street i might possibly get lucky, a12...not so
its probably not even worth ringing my insurance the £200 excess coupled with the fact in their eyes its just another >10 year old 125, they'd likely only offer me £100 or so
lesson learnt...people cant drive, build wall around stuff from now on
what pisses me off most is the thought they've taken the first vehicle I've owned with so much paperwork.. including original purchase receipt and smashed into it whilst most likely checking their texts or something along those lines

NSR's can be worth some serious money as far as 10 year old 125's go! (it will be 14 techincally).
However, have a look about and you'll find a 'minter' is worth considerably more than 100! (and these are all private sales, not stealerships).

NSR 1.
NSR 2.
Bent One.
Just an engine.

If it was in good nick, you should get a lot more for it.
Really popular as de-resticted 125 2 smoke (red power band!) on a CBT = lots of easy smiles with no full test to worry about!

Absolute bastard that it happened.

Hope they get teh aids... seriously seriously do Sad

It's a gutting feeling isn't it, had a hit and run with my last car. Why don't you knock on the neighbours' doors? Ask if anyone saw anything and even check if there's CCTV, you'd be surprised how many nosey parkers and cameras are around. Maybe invest in a simple CCTV system, I got a cheapie from eGay and it's helped me catch a neighbour who kept reversing into my car when parking. Pays for itself in no time Smile

so police aren't interested it would seem, made no attempt to get in contact with me today so called up to see if they plan on coming and the answer was no.
I've asked neighbors and so far all i can tell is about 22:20 a large black Hyundai clouted it and then drove off
..that's it so unfortunately not a lot to go on
there is a camera 150m down the road but the car would need to have turned a certain direction for that camera to achieve anything, i also feel the longer its left the less likely the police are going to trawl through the footage for me
i cant fit cctv outside my place as a) i don't own it b)the woman that owns the building apart from the flat is a complete unreasonable ass and c) where my house is on the corner of 2 busy roads my parking is quite far away

also with regards to insurance claim do they not make their own evaluation of the value of the bike when you take out the insurance?
if so i cant see them being reasonable when taking into consideration the price of other bikes on ebay

Yeah, found my tank dented the other day in the parking lot, probably by another biker as only motorcycles park there. Left no sign, nothing. What to expect from drivers when fellow bikers don't give a s**t? The hell with buying an expensive bike...

That's not claiming from your own insurance.

Rolling Eyes Roger, oh Roger, how quick you are to jump the gun (I think Mrs. Borg will agree but you can see a doctor for that).

You know the IPCC will not look at it until you've been through the complaint procedure with the police. So you need to deal with being fobbed off and being told that there will be a damn good talking to.

Even then the IPCC have guidelines about how long you need to respond, which can be circumvented by the police saying they sent the information when you didn't receive anything. So your complaint times out. Guess what, the IPCC believe the police on that one. As in an IPCC employee told me "I know the people in that office and they wouldn't do that". Rolling Eyes Independent my arse.

Bad luck mate. It's surprising how many times similar things happen, were people cause damage through sheer negligence and drive off in the hope they've gotten away with it. It happened to me a while back, only one of my neighbours was standing outside having a smoke, saw it happen, recorded it on his phone and phoned po po, who traced the driver down.

Let's just hope that considerable damage was caused to their vehicle so it'll cost them £££'s to repair.

Good luck on getting a satisfactory result, one way or another. Thumbs Up

SHOTS FIRED! Shocked

Well, if you'd bothered actually read the provided link you'd have seen that it actually describes the whole fobbing off process, including (the handy bit) links to local Farce whinge-divisions. Razz
