Hi, had a bike when i was 13, stopped riding when i passed driving test at 17. Needed space and room of car, so bike had to go.
Past 30 years never got round to taking the bike test till i finally passed Mod 2 last week Very Happy
Still deciding on a bike, no hurry, will wait till spring/summer, and yet to buy any gear.

Looking forward to the rides out next year, hopefully meet up with some of you guys Smile

Hi Alan, and welcome.

Between now and Christmas is a good time for bike bargains.

Hello and welcome.

As above.. Winter is a good time to buy bikes at lower prices. Buying in Spring or Summer usually mean a few hundred more to pay.

Well done on mod 2 and being born again.
You're a bit older than me but your background is similar.
Good luck finding a bike. I'm likely to be buying a couple more
bikes myself pretty soon. Just have to get my car sold first.

Thanks Smile

I did have my eyes on a CBR600RR, but have been put off the idea now.
Some friends advised me, being new to riding, the bike not be ideal just yet. Especially at my age Laughing

Not entirely sure yet, i wont be needing it to comute, more for fun days out riding along with mates, and some good ride out days with groups.

I think anything from a 600-1000 cc is more than enough, wont be spending a fortune on first bike, as i have a feeling i will change bikes within the first 12 months Razz

Yes, i have been told by many, bikes are usually cheaper during winter months, is there a huge difference ?

Your background is uncannily like mine.

Congrats on the Mod2 Very Happy

I am also on the lookout for a new bike, 600-1000cc the same.

Having never rode a race bike with the lower position, i think i need to try one before i commit to a Ninja or CBR which is what ive been looking at.

I am going to part ex my 125 and pay a little on finance i think.
i am desperate for a new bike having passed my test... but i have a lot to pay out just now.
such is life Confused

It's easier to get a monkey to learn to play a trumpet than it is to get a test
ride at most bike shops in your first year with a full licence.
I was being refused even with a 100% cash deposit. Unbelieveable.

In the end, I bought a very clean low mileage ER6f from a private seller
and thought that would do me for a couple of years.
In my mind it was a jack of all trades bike but I've found I need a bigger
bike for when I have wifey on board and a smaller faster lighter bike
for when I just want to go out for a blat.
I have a european tour planned for next year and loaded up the ER6f
isn't really gutsy enough and is working quite hard.
And it's quicker away from the line than 99% of cars but while I found it
quite fast when I first got it I became quite used to the performance in
quite a short time. It's fun but not at all furious.
I'm after something german for touring*cough* and something green for
blatting. But first I must sell Das Audi. Then I'll have a very healthy bike budget.

Eh. You can only buy the bikes that are for sale, and it drops away over winter.

I'd go with the best value example that's available in budget when you want to buy, and not get too hung up on waiting for a bargain that might never arrive.

Man: How much for a CBR600RR?
Dealer: £10K
Man: They're £9K at the dealer down the road, but he's got none in.
Dealer: Well, when we're out of stock, ours are £8K
Man: I'll come back when you have none.

<Ba dum tssss>

The ones that you want to do business with don't.

Hi Nitroball,

Plenty of good bikes out there, just don't rush in, bit of patience and plenty of searching and researching.

Good Luck.
