Is it not obvious that we treat the three countries involved in just the same way as we treat the individual patient and place them into isolation? No flights out and closed land and sea borders, OK a lot of people will die but they would do anyway and we could still send aid in although aid workers would have to be quarantined before returning home.

I imagine because that would be deemed against their human rights.

I think that's the best solution though. Nobody in and nobody out.

The ability to travel internationally is not a human right as encompassed by legislation.

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

That`s gonna be one hell of a plastic tent Shocked

On a serious note: who is going to control these borders to do that?
The countries involved do not seem to have the resources or the ability to control anything,...... speaking as an outsider.

It has not spread out of the three countries affected months ago so the land borders are holding it. It is air travel that is liable to spread Ebola and that is easy to control.

Liberia has about 51 trained doctors for a population of 3.8 Million so any aid needs to be on a military scale and the best people to run such an operation are the military.

I've been saying the same thing for a while.

Funny how if you want to bring an animal into the UK you have to chuck it in quarantine for 6moths.
But if you have been working with people infected with an illness, that happens to be pretty fucking deadly, you can walk straight in...

<common sense>Been somewhere Eboloa-ie, go sit in that room and play on that xbox for a fortnight. </common sense>

Actually, you should be held in the country you want to leave for 2 weeks.
Get the all clear... winner, jump on that there plane.

There is nothing that is so important that you need to travel.
We have the technology to communicate face to face over vast distances.

Fuck bro... you can skype with the cosmonauts on the ISS.

It's all a conspiracy. The government wants to stop immigration but don't want to be deemed racist. So they invent Ebola to kill a few thousand and cause a pandemic and they lock the borders to control it. They wait for Ebola to spread to "unfavourable" country's leaving popular destinations like Australia, New Zealand and USA clean.

We end up only being allowed to travel to the three above places. Ebola disappears and the government don't reopen the borders to other country's for fear of disease. Throw in Ebola vaccination in the oxygen supply on Airplanes and boom conspiracy.

Yes, we could. The political leaders here probably would prefer to it spread though, because then they get to try out the COBRA room and send even more of our money and doctors to other countries. It's the liberal way.

The best way to survive is to move to a small island with no airport.

Do we need the people of Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone to maintain our economy by visiting us? If the answer is less than yes we need to close the borders.

Closing borders will cause panic, which will make everything worse.

Cutting off the supply of immigrants might panic you. I'm all right with it.

Nothing at all to do with immigration, this is about containment of infection. the USA will stop air travel within a month and we will follow within a week.
