Hi
Went to view the divvy today, asked Alec yesterday again about the condition, c&s,fork seals and such.
He said all fine its a great bike, he wont be there today but his colleague will, got there at 09:30 and saw the bike, well the right fork leg was piss wet through with fluid and c&s were well past it so i thought ok i can listen to it and maybe get thee price down from £1400, now the old bloke there seemed more interested in eating sandwiches than attending to me so i said any chance of listening to it, didn't seem thrilled but said ok and proceeded with the oh that's a cheap price crap, i replied priced to high.
He started the bike and revved it for......wait....30 seconds then turned it off walked away back to his sandwich, i couldn't believe it, i got to hear clutch rattle and the top end sounded like a rattly old diesel.
I walked over to him and said is that it?, he looked annoyed and started to get up with the keys again and at that point i said don't bother, your food seems more important than a customer and thanks for wasting my time and money, then i left.
So one private and one dealer, both Yorkshire, have i done something wrong, offended anyone?, f*&^ed if i know, from now on now I will look local.

Dealers.
I wonder, how many good bikes have you overlooked while fixating on finding a divvy? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Maybe the problem is not the dealers, just a thought |
It certainly isn't me, the chap i spoke to on the phone called Alec was fine and helpful I was disappointed that the oil seal was leaking when he said it was fine but the old boy there this morning was a waste of space, I had driven 60 miles with £1400 in my pocket.
Rogerborg, lol im not fixated on a divvy, I just wanted a good commuter, reliable like the cg easy to work on and ride all year round without having to ride in a superman position and the divvy ticked the box as does a fazer but they seem tatty and high mileage, Im trying to find a low mileage bike for long term use and commuting while i save for a fun bike a year or two down the line.

As it stands I'm really thinking about this as snoosnoo suggested, could be on the road for £1100. Other than that im trawling adverts around Wigan now.

Buy it you could do worse. Though I'd try to argue the price down based on that shock. I have one half as crappy looking as that on my shelf and it's unusable.
edit - the piston sticking out the rear calliper looks a bit corroded too. |

£1400 gets you a Fireblade these days. You know it makes sense. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

The fixed to high standards means plastics but looking at that can bent up under the left side passenger peg, it has took some.
Providing it runs, it runs straight I'd have it. 2006 ones asking prices are quite high.
Black frame - nice. Would remove those "bungs" immediately, they're thin bolted crappy things that do no protection, reportedly.
In all - would have at that price. ____________________ I'm Sam; Northern, Ginger, Lover

Thanks snoosnoo, any way i can check what the damage was?, he doesnt know , he bought it that way, wr6133, yes i noticed that but i dont think he will budge any more was up at £1200 lol, last owner said it was fine but too much for tyre , exhaust and shims so he part ex it for £600. If the black one runs fine im not bothered it will only be tpft on it anyway, cheap enough not to cry if i come off it, going looking at it an a bit.

If they've fixed the damage, there'll be no way to know what's happened. BUT. Common damage to a ZZR from any fall, exhaust can get bent/scratched, the riders footpeg hanger always snaps, bar end scuff, some fairing scuffage (sometimes cracking) and being on the left, may have bent the gear shift lever. If it all looks straight and true, it'll be fine.
He mentions he put new brakes on. This will be because he didn't keep up on the maintenance of the old ones. The stock Tokicos are well known for getting gummed up, so try and keep on top of them and you'll be ok. ____________________ I'm Sam; Northern, Ginger, Lover

Okies, so have had a look fairing front is slightly to the right and a larger gap between edge and the lockable compartment, has engine been repainted?, images attached.
Rev it and clutch rumbles for a min or so (should it?), hold clutch in and no rumble but it feels boggy till it gets to 3k, only exhaust stands out for damage really, faring can be tweaked, got last owners details and mot and logbook.
It started straight away no turning over and only needed choke for a minute?, warmed up earlier or is this normal.
Will have to wait and see if anyone bids. Opinions please.
Thanks

The fairings don't fit flush to the infils as far as I know, if you're happy with the gap, it'll be reet. The picture you've put on shows the silver engine, you're asking about the colours of the cases being different, I wouldn't worry about it in this instance.
IIRC the clutch can be rattly but I never listen for it, get on and ride.
I always start my bike with choke for a minute or so, then it'll idle happily.
AS for the boggy comment, if the bike has been sat the carbs can get a bit gummy, happens to mine if I leave it sitting for a week +. After a good ride, using the rev range it clears it out and is happy. Mine doesn't like operating road speeds when revs are less than 3k, so you'll never be that low when riding IMO.
As for fairings being from another model, AFAIK the fairing decals haven't been changed radically and just some colours were added later on I think.
Does it look clean and tidy? Did you ask him to nail it up the road in second yet? ____________________ I'm Sam; Northern, Ginger, Lover

There is a subframe/fairing bracket at the front that holds the clocks and the front fairing, if the fairing is off a bit it's probably that. It looks like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KAWASAKI-ZZR-600E-REF-BRH-FRONT-FAIRING-BRACKET-SLIGHTLY-BENT-SEE-PICTURES-/191618408467?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c9d58e013
Slightly noisy clutch is normal.
From that photo no idea if engine has been repainted. It's been cleaned though, I cleaned mine up 6 months ago and it's filthier than that by the headers now.
If you want it get it.... I'd start your offers under his starting auction bid though (if he gets no bids), worst he can say is "piss off" and you can always work up. |

Nice, for example my Ninja 250, was superb, few iffy damaged bits externally but ran fine.
Out of nowhere, smash, engine chewed itself. |
