Hey There,

I am quite curious about this recent bike, and peoples thoughts towards it, so I was wondering what you guys make of it?

Bike magazine in their latest issue seem to like it, and personally from what I can make of it I like it because it's quite different (even though I dont really like cruisers)Thumbs Up . 2.3 Litres seems a heck of alot and despite what bike magazine saying about it being tamer than they expected, I can't ever see 2.3 litres as a practicle option. I like the concept, but I don't think I'd ever own one.

So do you guys like it? Do you think it will remain a one off type bike, or do you think other manufacteurs will also start producing over 2 litre mega muscle bikes in direct competition. Would you ever consider owning one? Or do you think it's a little vulgar and excessive? - more like a truck than a bike.

Just curious to know your thoughts really,.

Cheers, Jonathan

Personally, I love it (my old man has even said he would rather me have one of those than a CBR400 which is the bike I want next Eh?). Saw one on display at the NEC last year Thumbs Up, I soooo would have one...if I could pick the beggar up Laughing it's just cool!

Having too many bikes like that around would be a bit pointless though imo, You in no way need that amount of power in a bike on the roads, so it's just a waste really...and it's not like they can enter them into the big races or anything is it? Although I am now having mental images of one of those beast's wiping the floor with all those tiny sports bikes Laughing!

There are plenty of far more powerful bikes around (for example my mildly tuned 1200 Bandit has 10% more power out of an engine just over half the size). What it has got is torque all over the place so you can be ultra lazy with it.

All the best

The Triumph dealer in Chippenham has a couple of them in - including a demo one. The sound is fantastic when they are running, almost as it the engine fires every other lamp post! Cool

Looks fairly standard. Would probably run better it I dumped the airbox but that would be too obvious and would mean trying to find somewhere else to put the crankcase oil breather.

All the best

Rode the press bike yesterday for a couple or three hours and even though I am not a big fan of cruisers, I have to admit that the Triumph has one impressive engine and it handles pretty good as well! Shocked

the rocket iii is heavly restricted as standard and would be much higher performance without these "devices"

Let me first declare that I am biased (I'm on my third Hinkley Triumph now).

Although I probably won't buy one I think it is great that a British Manufacturer had the balls to make something this radical. They took a wholly new approach to cruiser design. Not a pretend Harley with a V twin but a three cylinder design. Not across-the-frame but inline. Not an 1800 but 2300. It definately looks better on the off-side though and apparently there is no standard bike that will out-drag it over a standing quarter.

Although it should have an advantage thanks to it's long, lowish and heavy profile, apparantly it only beats the big sports bikes up to 40mph.

The main problem with getting big sports bike to do fast launches is stopping them wheelying I belive... so you make them longer/heavier and they should beat the trumpet off the line as well.

stock busas and zx12s will run nines with a good rider with terminals in the 140s (and I've seen a video of a totally stock zx10r doing a nine as well)

I doubt that this lump will match this in stock trim - what have they published so far?

They are already churning out the aftermarket bits for it.

They know the pipes are a bit cack, but it does meet the forthcoming E3 emmissions etc.

A couple of grand over the asking price, and you can have all those fiddly littel legal things taken care of Very Happy

I guess I was wrong about this but I remember reading one of the mags that was saying before the launch that they saw one testing at Bruntingthorpe and although they couldn't tease the testrider into racing, they did see him open it up and blow away an R1 or Zxr or summat. But that was before they softened it up prior to launch.

The one we saw at Santa Pod on the CBR day was only running in the 11s, not that that really tells us anything cos we dunno if he was 'trying' or not. Smile

We saw one at Donington and had a good nosey at it. I personally don't like the look of it. Yeah ok, it's impressive looking, but at the end of the day - it's a cruiser. That says it all really! It just ain't sexy and has cheese written all over it.
