external hard drive I got for Christmas for my Xbox one seems to have failed already

I am extraordinarily pissed off about it, beyond rationally angry at it.

I know it's not a big deal, but I am raging about this.

My 14 year old daughter making 'exotic' brownies at a mate's house on Saturday night. In her favour, she did do it because all the other kids were allegedly smoking the stuff and she didn't want to do that...

They were caught by her mate's mum who came home early....

I got a lecture last week on a similar subject. My son and his lass (early 20s) were visiting and outright asked me - had I ever done drugs?
I'm an honest fella and listed what, when and described the wild times.

Did you bollock her or did you offer advice and warnings?
(I smile when I discover some of the naughties my son does!)

Ridiculous at that age.

She should be steeping the stuff in vodka, in the dark for a week, then straining it into a decanter of red wine. "To be drunk with discretion".

We have had 'the chat' on numerous occasions, plus having two older brothers who have 'dabbled', she is well aware of what she was doing. That could be a good thing or a bad thing....

It was a fine balance betweeen a bollocking and advice. We sat her down and explained that irrespective of what the other kids were doing, she is ultimately responsible for her own safety. We said that choosing not to smoke it was sensible for loads of reasons, not least that it can lead to a nicotine addiction which can take decades to shift (I used myself as an example), but that putting it in brownies carries its own risks too. We explained that chances are the weed was 'skunk' from a factory in Burnley or similar where slave-trade methods are used to mass-produce the stuff, and that the dealer probably mixed it with other drugs to get repeat custom. I told her that recently 'skunk' had been found with heroin traces for that very reason. We also told her that getting the proportions wrong could lead to a very unpleasant few hours, potentially culminating in a trip to A & E, which never looks good....

The bollocking part is difficult because we know she will experiment whatever we say, so we'd rather she feels able to talk about it than not. She grudgingly accepted a two week grounding, no going out after dark until the trust comes back, and not going to the house of the lad who supplied the funky green.

There is no manual unfortunately for raising kids.

Easy M.C. It is hard enough trying to guide a kid through to adulthood without worrying about R.Kelly and his ilk...

The best advice you get too late - Don't have them. They are expensive, trouble and take far more than they ever give. They never stop being a burden in some way or another, even when they are so called adults.

As for when they are teenagers Evil or Very Mad

Advice from a man with 3 of the f*ckers. Embarassed

Who? They get slated by internet experts but I've not had any issues with the WD refurb drives that come up regularly. I got a 2TB for £40 for the Xbox.

I know you're trolling but it all stems back to a racist society/police/justice system, where an actor can get away with drugging and raping (mainly white*) women for years, and a singer can engage in child porn, film himself clearly engaging in said child porn and still get found not guilty Neutral

*important as there are those saying now no one cares about R Kelly cos he's abusing black girls Rolling Eyes

Edit: to keep it on topic this grinds my gears...

I'm not trolling, I just don't keep up with "celebrity gossip", which is probably why I've never heard of any of them. I do not agree with racist views, by the way.

Err ok I thought most people knew who Bill Cosby and even R.Kelly were, they're not exactly overnight reality stars Smile Just to clarify my position, I see it as another case of powerful/rich people getting away with crimes, like Savile, Wacko Jacko.. ooh another (sort of) black one, and victims seemingly more interested in compo than justice, at least in the MJ/R.Kelly cases.

You've never heard of Bill Cosby??
He was rather famous way before any allegations were made, and not as a rapper. Laughing

I thought he was an old-time singer like Andy Williams. Mr Kelly I had not heard of, but I've looked them both up. I don't think I've missed much.

TV celebrities grind my gears.

I dunno it's kinda raping: https://youtu.be/xFU2HL-PQNo?t=2 Very Happy

It's funny seeing clips of him speaking publicly, where the audience don't seem to have a f'ing clue what he's going on about Laughing That actually led to his downfall, as he got a bit Tut Tut towards black people, and as he had been getting preachy they released old criminal investigation records (which they didn't normally do).

The white MSM published allegations about Cosby and was widely ignored, then a black stand-up comedian repeated them and it kicked off. Had Cosby stayed on the dindu nuffin message he'd probably be walking around a free man now Neutral

Ok now I am really getting off topic Shifty
