No high pitched noises but I've tried Earex drops and I think I've made it worse. I'm like lopsided balance wise.

I'm sorry my friend but there is no justifying £110 on trainers imho.
I'm obviously no athlete but I seriously doubt that running in £40-£50 trainers would be any worse than the £110 pair.
I suspect that in a lot of cases it's folks wanting to be seen in the 'right gear' when they go to race meets etc.

Yes, and no.

Yes, in that my hundred quid trainers, are not one hundred quids worth of trainer.

No in that, I really get on with these ones, and the cheaper brands I've tried I don't get on with. I don't want to spend that money though, I'm not going out of my way to do it.

My neutral trail running shoes came from a charity shop. Thumbs Up

More than £110 for fvcking trainers? TRAINERS? £110???

I spent that on trainers when I was 19. I saw Reebok pump mentioned. Yep it was those. Laughing At the time I was in my
thrash metal phase and the fashion amongst thrashers at the time was a band tee shirt (never the same one your
mate had on, that was against the rules,) very very tight black stretch jeans then white basketball boots. It was a
lot of money back then, I got my pair from the "catalogue" (where all things too expensive to purchase in one go
came from back then) and paid them off for months afterwards. I have to a laugh at you old buggers (as an old bugger
myself) that baulk at the idea of £100 on a pair of trainers but will hand over many hundreds for shiny footpegs or some
Rukka kit or a Shoei lid...

I've never been one to follow fashions. I just consider what I think I need, then see what is out there that addresses those needs. Sometimes it's something cheap, sometimes it means splurging more cash than you want to.

Even if I buy something purely because I like it, I don't really care who makes it. If there's a cheaper but still effective version that fits my requirements, I'll go for that.

Paying for brand names has always been anathema to me. It's just that sometimes those brand names get it more right than the less well known ones. That period where it was fashionable to have labels worn on the outside of clothing seemed ridiculous to me. I still prefer companies to keep their labels discreet if we must see them at all.

I spend the absolute minimum on living and clothing, similar with bike gear, just getting what actually fits etc. I've spend £20 on a helmet before because it was comfy as hell, I also have spent a whopping £60 on trainers because they were the nicest I could find (and I was in America and shoes had just given up after 3 years of service Laughing )

I had a black leather bike jacket because I rode bikes. But I also had a Belstaff wax cotton jacket that was a hand-me-down from my old man Laughing

I used to wear it over the leather when I had to do a long trip in pissing rain and cold. Still not quite sure why I bothered, as by that point it had seen the last of its waterproof days Rolling Eyes
Actually, my leather jackets were often hand-me-downs from my brother, who also rode bikes.

There was no one else (except my physics teacher Smile ) in my school who was into bikes, and there were maybe two other people in my school who liked heavy rock. Didn't care. Still don't.

It might be telling that I have only two "slogan" t-shirts at the moment. One is a Fender one (I like Strats and Teles), and the other a Rory Gallagher one - and he was never the "in thing" really - always did his own thing too, and never mind what people thought. The Rory t-shirt got me into a number of conversations with people who also like his music - on the Lakeland fells of all places Laughing

You might well, but plenty don't. A great many people, I'd argue more than 50% live WAY above their means and
have a sucky paycheck to paycheck life because of it. Leased cars, £1000 phone on the hip and two skint weeks every
single month. I was guilty of it back too in my "catalogue" days. I never had the dough to hand for £120 reebok pumps
and more pairs of Levi 501's than I can count, so the catalogue was the only way for me back then. I don't do credit anymore.

Ah you see, at the time so did I and was considered the most entitled within my little mob of about 6 of us to wear
the leather jacket that made up part of our "uniform". We all got guitars about the same time too. These guys were
our heroes and as teenage lads just like every kid that ever bought a football shirt, we wanted to be like them. Virtually
every t shirt I own has something printed on the front. I've been advertising other peoples shit since 1989.

Yeah, I've always tried to live within my means. If I got a loan to buy a bike, I made sure I could pay it off quickly. Instead of looking to have expensive things, I think you should adjust your life to stay within those means. Never had a credit card in my life.

Now is an exception, because if I didn't use the bank's money, I'd starve to death Laughing

I work with a 19 year old who told me this morning when we were discussing trainers that he had a pair with an air pocket in the heel. He put them in the washing machine to clean them and the air pocket expanded out the sides and ruined the trainers. I laughed so hard I nearly crashed the van.

100% agree. I'm pretty sure 75% of my pay is stashed away each month and I live like a proper cheap arse. I couldn't do month to month, I'd kill myself. Laughing

WTF.

Upon futher investigating (thanks Google) it appears, it means, a set of trainers that cost more than £110.

Fuck I feel old.

EastEnders. I admit I watch it. They made a big song and dance about Paul Usher being cast as a villain, Paul played Des Taviner in The Bill and Barry Grant in Brookside.

A good actor by all accounts. However; his entire screen time on EastEnders was less than 10 minutes and he's gone. What was the point in that? big song and dance and naff all of him.

Lots of it's yank, due to the incessant bombardment of TV, social medja and others. Often when people try to describe what's the matter with their bike, it's impossible to know what they mean.

A new gear grinder but hot on the heels of my recent comment below...

Tried to use my old iPad for a family Skype session with my adult kids who are mostly scattered around the country - we do this reasonably often; it's a nice way to keep in touch. But the Skype app told me it was out of date and needed updating before I could connect. So I visited the app store, only to find out that I'm already running the most up to date version available for my device. So, no more Skype. This is hot on the heels of exactly the same thing happening with my Royal Bank of Scotland banking app a few weeks ago; similarly about a year ago Skype stopped working on my smart TV (which I'd equipped with an expensive and now useless dedicated webcam thingy).

Does my farking head in, this built-in obsolescence. I have expensive bits of kit which work just as well now as they did when I bought them but they are effectively junk simply because the manufacturers and developers have decreed it Evil or Very Mad

Well if it's 6 years old I dare say the manufacturer would very shortly have designated it 'end of life', and then discontinued the lifetime map updates despite the device working perfectly well and not needing any other maintenance except a new map meaning that you can end up driving in the wrong direction up the motorway on Boxing Day while the satnav thinks your driving in a fucking field.... Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Went to see the quack this afternoon about my ear (I went into work this morning as they only had a 1pm appointment). Apparently my inner ear is infected through cotton bud and key abuse. He gave me some Otomize ear spray and 100 Co-codamol 30mg/500mg capsules for the discomfort.

Took 2 of the capsules and fell asleep. Just booked the rest of the week off through work to recover. I hate time off work it's boring.

Had a similar thing with a load of my CCTV clients. Apple said "no more 32-bit apps" and a load of ppl updated their phones and then had to junk their DVRs. Literally the only thing they needed was a new app, nothing wrong with the boxes themselves Sad

As said earlier by me , my sat-nav broke.
So I go shopping for a new one because I prefer to have a separate sat-nav.

Not that many in the shops nowadays Sad .
The ones that are about are fugging expensive Evil or Very Mad
The cheapest I could find over the counter was £99.95.

Ended up buying a mount for my phone.
Looks like my phone is my sat-nav now?

Come back Maplins , all is forgiven.
Bought my last sat-nav there for not a lot of pennies.

I like to feed the birds so when crows nested in a neighbour's tall conifer I thought, "That's nice." So what do crows eat at this time of year? Small birds apparently, particularly fledgelings and nestlings. They're not equipped for a quick kill either.

Lazy crows that live near my house were tapping at the window asking to get fed this morning.

Woke up the cat (dozing on the window sill) and the furry fucker nearly shat a brick! Back end went out as he skidded round the living room door and nearly took the cat flap off the hinges Very Happy
