Always unsure how to reply to "grinds" posts, however:

Try VSee messenger instead of Skype. Lower bandwidth, too.

I was sitting on my boat last night. Just me, the fishing rod and some broken windows Evil or Very Mad when i had a God induced bolt out of the blue.

I need another dog. I have my friends dog when he works away but it's just not the same as your own.

So I had a good think anout how i would get it round wifey - It will keep me healthy(ier). It will be company. It will be security. etc.

So armed with this over breakfast this morning I said I fancied having another dog. Her response - Over my dead body. Mine (mumbling) That could be arranged.

So does anyone have any ideas on how to talk a stubborn old cow round to my way of thinking?

Bribery, threats, presents all considered. Thumbs Up

1. Erm - don't let her read this thread
2. Try endless wheadling, moving on to leaving toy dogs on her pillow before she goes to bed, and finally waking up in the night crying. Worked for my daughter 20 years ago Evil or Very Mad

Where women are concerned you have to make them believe it was their idea. Sort of "You mentioned a while ago I should exercise more, a dog will encourage me to do that".

That sort of thing.

Just get the fuckin dog Laughing

Pro tip: get a rescue dog. Not just cos its the best thing you can do for a dog, but also, she will feel terrible if she tries to talk you into sending it back.

Worst case scenario: she will leave you.
You'll still have the dog.

Other annoying scenario: She'll nag you forever about having got the dog. That's why God invented ear plugs.

Careful with that one, though.
A woman of a certain age might think you were trying to bribe her with sex toys.

Really? I thought bedroom gadgets were strictly for the under 30s.. or perhaps that's just what my (estranged) wife told me.

I've had a really bad 24 hours. Doped up on Co-codamol/Paracetamol which makes me feel sleepy. My ear infection has spread to my other ear and the Otomize ear spray made it itch so bad that I had to rinse it out in the shower and got water trapped in my ear and no sleep last night as pain was 100/10.

Wife made me breakfast this morning but never brought it into bed, so by the time I stumbled downstairs on my deathbed state it was cold. I went on the National Lottery website to do the lottery for tonight, saw you could try the scratch card games for FREE, you can play up to 75 times in 24 hours. Played £12 worth of cards and won £105. Money for old rope, tried it for real with it costing me to buy the cards and so far I've lost £25. Today has been the worst day ever.

Unlezz I'm mistaken, you've never been married to a woman, therefore I don't think you're qualified to offer this kind of specialist relationship advice Laughing

PB, we all know you need to buy HER the dog, with fluffy pink ribbon bow tied around its head, holding a bunch of flowers in its drooling gob.

And make it talk, something like I wub u x

If she doesn't melt at that then Thatcher is resurrect - buy holy water and stakes.

This. Very much.

Many years ago a school friend of mine did the same strategy with a motorbike (Oh how I wish it could have been me Sad ).

Friend "Mum/Dad can i have a bike?"

Parents "Over my/our/exn dead body."

Next day friend just turns up on one anyway.
