Wasps.
Walking my mutt and the neighbour's mutt tonight (we have him for 10 days whilst they are away...), the two hoon down an embankment chasing a stick. Seconds later they hoon back up again surrounded by angry wasps. I get stung, my pooch gets stung but the neighbour's dog doesn't as he has the common sense to jump in the canal.
The dog is fine now, but I have a sting under one arm and a sting up my shorts, both of which are smarting. ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Thank you for the advice. These were wasps, so no sting left in. I've gone for lemon juice and it is doing the trick... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Virgin Media piss taking price increases.
Twice in 9 months totalling a 20% increase. If I put my prices up 20% in 9 months I'd be out of business. I had a letter 2 days ago telling me this increase would be another £3. It's actually gone up by £6. This happens at least twice a year as they time it with an "expiring discount".
Been on the "press 5 to cancel" line listening to shit pop music for 24 minutes so far.
Edit - after 32 minutes, they've put it down to what it was in November again, after it went up by £3, but for only another 6 months. Every sodding 6 months, you get hiked for a 15-20% increase unless you spend half an hour arguing the toss to save £6 a month. I don't mind slight increases, but don't like a company who tries it on for over 20% in a year, every year. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

VM can be a proper bunch of c*nts. I junked then in favour of TalkTalk (marginally better) about 18 months ago.
After a couple of failed attempts they eventually matched the TalkTalk deal but really, why? Why have you been such utter pricks up til the leave point?? Shove it up your arse..! ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

TalkTalk would be useless for my needs. Are you aware they block most remote support software packages such as Teamviewer, Splashtop, Logmein at ISP level? The claims of just switching off "home safe" in the website account control panel have had mixed results, as have changing client DNS addresses. They seem to filter all DNS ranges at ISP firewall level. |
Run via VPN, seems the way to go to combat such silliness ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Blocked for good reason, however you can just turn it off with a phone call... It's a DNS dropping service, we do it as well. Literally one call to turn off inspection and it's gravy. |
I've seen mixed results with this. Unless the user was a complete moron (possible), he reckons he'd disabled "Home Safe", which is what TalkTalk told him he needed to do in the control panel of their site, to switch off this DNS filtering.
Either way, as an update to the Virgin Media saga, I had nothing worth watching last night. Even though the the offshore call centre robot told me I'd be on the same package, just the updated name for it, Sky One, Syfy and Fox have disappeared from my package, which was already the lowest TV one anyway. These channels provided most of the TV I watch.
This means all the box sets I'd recorded from these channels on the Tivo box, not won't play because I no longer have a subscription for them.
If it wasn't for the broadband speed, I'd have buggered off elsewhere years ago instead of having to ring them up every 6 months to stop them taking the piss with 20% price increases and removing my most used channels to piss me off and make me upgrade again. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Heavy handed MOT testers. Took the old Jag for an MOT yesterday. In preparation and after giving it a once over, I replaced all 4 drop links and 2 stabiliser bars as the dust seals were torn and this is now an instant fail.
Drive it there, all knocking noises gone and it handled a lot better.
It failed, which wasn't too much of a surprise as this is the first MOT I've taken it for, so wasn't too sure of it's history. It failed on 2 bushes, one at the bottom of the front offside damper (bought a new Jaguar damper for £70) and the other bush is in the offside rear lower wishbone, the outer bush which the hub connects to. (bought a refurbed wishbone with 3 new bushes pressed in).
Anyway, as it's still showing as MOT'd I took it around to my parents this morning. I noticed a new noise yesterday coming back from the MOT and thought the handling felt a bit different. Took it out this morning and it's handling like crap - the rear end it stepping out and jumping around corners. It certainly wasn't like that on the way to the MOT, so whatever happened, the tester must have had a right go at the bushes with a pry bar. Did he really need to destroy it to prove a point?
I also noticed the tyre on that corner was pretty flat, when it was fine before the MOT. I wonder if he's damaged something during the test, so let the tyre down a bit to mask his damage.
Had the wheel off and nothing obvious, so hopefully it's just one of the bushes in the lower wishbone he's trashed.
This place has done similar before and broke a drop link on my old car during the test. How much force are they allowed to put each bush and arm through? Seems a bit heavy handed to me. It feels like the EU regulated and stricter MOT test is just there now to put people off trying to maintain a car over 3 years old and instead keep leasing brand new German cars every 3 years to prop up their economy.
Why on Earth should a torn dust cover be a fail if the ball joint is still in perfect nick? ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.
