The point of a CO2 detector is to check for CO2 resulting from the combustion process, not to check for unburned gas. A100man isn't suggesting otherwise.

Best way to check for gas leaks is to close all windows, tape up the doors, wait for 24 hours then light a cigar. Never fails.....

Please don't take this advice

Well every joint had the soapy water test. Passed that. Boiler is new and therefore should not leak. Also regarding Mr Singh, he does a lot of work for landlords charging £80 for a safety certificate, so he is registered.

Boiler does not hiss, so I honestly don't think it's leaking also there is no strange smell.

Being registered for gas safety testing is different to being registered for fitting new boilers.

If he gives you his Gas Safe registration number then you can see what he's registered to do.

Ask him for his registration number?

FTFY.
But as the learned Ste says, even if true that doesn't necessarily mean he's qualified to fit boilers too.

On the site he can do all that. Picture is the same as well. Looks like I got a bargain.

Now you can contact the Gas Safe register people to check that SinghPal has notified them of the installation. Thumbs Up

I think I've said this before but after a summer of various events I'll say it again... sketchy bag searches grind my gears. If you're going to do it, do it properly or don't waste my time. A quick glance into the main compartment of a rucksack (which has two draw-string bags containing waterproofs and puncture repair kit, plus a camera bag and various zipped pockets,) isn't a proper security check, so why bother?

Certificate takes a week or three to come in the post. Assuming the installer is doing his paperwork in a timely fashion.

The Building Regulations state that the Local Authority must be notified within 30 calendar days of the installation of a new gas heat producing appliance e.g. boiler, fire (but excluding flueless solely cooking appliances) and their associated heating/hot water systems.
This is the responsibility of your registered engineer and can be done by them either online or by telephone.

Still time to go.

"In England and Wales, the Building Regulations require all Local Authorities (LA) to be informed when a heat producing appliance (boiler, fire etc) is installed in a property.

The Building Regulations and Gas Safe rules of registration require that Gas Safe registered businesses comply with their geographical area regulations by notifying (i.e. self-certifying) any relevant appliances they’ve installed to the LA. If you own your property, the responsibility also falls upon you to ensure that Building Regulations are complied with, so it’s in your interest to ensure that an engineer notifies any installation work."

I just phoned him, he said he'll do it before the end of next week, he's a lot on. I trust him, he gave me all the details I requested and he checks out skills wise. I have no reason to disbelieve him.

How are you getting on with the rats, and Doreen next door?

We compromised. She does not feed them any more. I bought her a 3 level rat cage for £40 second hand, she keeps 3 indoors now. In the cage, she is happy, I get sleep. Rats cost her £10 each from local petshop. She feeds them, she is happy. No more rat related issues.

Wonder if she's feeding them on the sly. Laughing

The scrap man took her machine after I asked them to. Doreen was mortified, we had an old cooker and they took that then I suggested they take next doors washer (Doreens).

She was so upset as the birds have no where to feed off and the rats no where to tunnel behind/make a den in. I bought her the 2nd hand rat cage and she feeds her 3 rats now indoors.

No. I don't think she feeds them on the sly. She needed me to lift the 25kg of food she used to order. She's had no new food delivered.
