I've a feeling someone local isn't taking their medication..

More like ... someone local might be a serial killer and the stress/pressure of keeping that hidden is causing their sanity to have little seismological moments with these vitriolic little postal gems.

I'm kinda numb at the moment - that will all wait until Dad arrives back and we can chat...

So - have another gear grinder. (might have mentioned this thing before)
For a whole week my phone has rung twice daily with a withheld number. I'm always working and can't answer. The problem is they have been letting my phone go to voicemail but then not leaving a message!!! B*stards.
So, Friday afternoon I finally managed to answer one of the calls. It was a f*cking service engineer for Dads recliner chair. (NHS/serviced by their engineers yearly) I'm a contact for Dad and with him being away they were calling me instead.
"So why didn't you just leave me a message and I'd call you back" I asked. The engineer told me that his company is trying a new system..

Don't read too much into that. I'm on the TPS and still get regular silent cold calls that my ansafone filters.

Hmmph. Vast majority of people never bother returning voice messages. Of those, a huge number don't even bother listening to messages which have been left for them. I'm not at all surprised they'd act as they did

Sorted my nephew with a plumbing apprenticeship 15yrs ago. Got my mate to take him on the condition that the lad actually went & asked for the job & he was never to know.

He's got his own little business now, 2x vans & 4 lads. Money is rolling in.

Came round today to service my boiler, not a bad job for £120 cash.

Why do I ever fukkin bother Sad

In the first year I moved here, I lost a fence and roofing felt on a shed to the wind.
In the second year, I lost the garden gate.
Shed got replaced with a new, larger one, no wind related problems thus far. Fence got replaced with a new, stronger one, holding up well. Garden gate is still languishing between the fence and the new shed Rolling Eyes

Things seem to be pretty much windproof now Smile

Famous last words...

The centre of these low pressure systems seems often to pass over Scotland, so we get a lot of these strong winds (the isobars man, the isobars!) here.

You could tell him you bought him a new swing for out in the yard, then take him out and peg him by his ears to the washing line.

I see that the towns built in a steep valley that shares a canal a river a railway line and a road are suffering again.

GSX got blown over Rolling Eyes

Woke up at 8am this morning to two voicemails from my neighbours either side, telling me the bike was over and partially in the road.

My burly weekend houseguest was still sparko so I went out (in my dressing gown) to assess the situation and see if I needed to wake him up (scary concept Shocked Laughing Laughing ) but I was just about to get the thing back onto its tyres (flat) when a policeman happened along and helped me get it not only upright but also onto the centre stand (which I had failed to do last time through lack of strength/partially seized).

But just before he left, my mate has shifted it more properly away from the road and closer to my house.

Still gonna have to go out there and retarp it though Mad

Make sure you let the emergency and rescue services know your plan, with timings. Make sure you have the correct equipment with you, and check that everything is fully functional. Make sure your final will and testament is fully up-to-date ( Shocked ).

Good luck in this brave undertaking!

Unsure why that grinds your gears unless you expected a freebie for something you did 15 years ago.

I don't do IT work for free.

Around abouts that same time I gave a box full of broken PC bits to a young lad whose attention was brought to me by his single parent mother.

Mobo's, PSU's, soundcards, video cards, memory chips & CPU's etc, etc,etc . . . .

Even in his young age he knew exactly what he wanted to be when he grew up.

When he graduated from university Cambridge he was very insistent that I be there. He now works on the kind of computing shit that you & I can only dream of.

Who planted your seed? Who watered your seed? And if you have the wits about you to understand, how much would you charge them to sort out their cloud today?
