Anyone know of any problems with keeping your bike outside (with a decent cover) can cause as opposed to keeping it in a garage? I ask this because my remote garage is very humid and causes dampness and mould!! cheers folks Cool

I kept mine onstreet for ages with a cover - no probs. It was only a cheap nasty cover too, but it kept the rain and snow off quite nicely.

I keep mine outside with a cheap cover on it, which seems to work fine. When it's windy I put my oxford chain over it to hold it down.

I know from experience that a damp, humid garage is worse for rust than being outdoors, because if it's outdoors the water can evaporate...my first car rusted to bits because of this.

I use a tarpaulin to cover my bike up. Its basically a very big waterproof sheet to throw over your bike but they are very light so you got to put bricks or similar on it when its windy.
I got a spare one if you want it. Smile

I use an Oxford Rainex cover.

Keeps my bike nice & dry in the mostly damp weather that us Brits suffer year in,year out.

Comes with a belly strap so it won't fly off in the wind.

One downside is that you have to let the bike/exhaust cool `before` you use the cover as it'll melt it otherwise. Sad

Hi

Rain covers tend to be waterproof, so they can cause a nice warm environment to keep water vapour in so it gets to all sorts of odd areas.

All the best

kev? why did you start that argument last night so i could get kicked out? the honda stays at my mum and dads garage as it is secure and attached to their house. the kawasaki is only 4 month old and i was worried about the dampness in my remote garage so I thought about a decent cover to go in my back garden!

Normally my bike is kept on the driveway with a cover on with no problems at all. This week however, she has been in a garage and i have had to use the choke to start her in the mornings. Guess it must be a bit damp in there.
