Saw this on MCN, I didn't even know BMW did rider training, apparently they do. For starters, there is the price - it's £1795, which is probably double what most other DAS courses are charging, although they do a 20% discount for 'winter booking' but:

Pretty interesting proposition for those with enough cash and that really, really want a license.

They also offer anyone who takes A2 training and tests the opportunity to come back after 2 years and have further training and full A tests, for free.

You just know that if somebody takes up their unlimited offer training it will be withdrawn.

Wendys or some Yank corporate had some sort of offer $20,000 in one go and you can eat as much as you like as often as you like for the rest of your life.

If they ever met that guy I did my CBT with (who failed his CBT14 times...)

I did my DAS with BMW in February 2012, a Christmas present from the wife. It was nothing like that price (I think it was about £600-£700) and in Wales at the time, so five nights in a B&B brought the price up considerably. I think they are in Royston now? Not quite as nice an area, but definitely more convenient for London and middle England.

There was no guarantee then, and I managed to dab my foot down during the u-turn on the mod 1, so at the end of it all I had nothing much to show except a theory pass... On the plus side, the training was mostly very good. I was just rubbish.

I went home and rode a 125 for eight months and then took a one-day course at a local school and passed in Uxbridge on the first try.

In hindsight, I probably could have gone through the local school for half the cost, but I got a week of experience on decent, new BMW bikes and rode around Wales (albeit mostly Swansea). As far as Christmas presents go, it wasn't bad.

Sounds like a lot, but I'd hazard a guess that the instructors aren't chain smoking angry men whose idea of teaching is screaming in your ear for 3 days. Wink
