A work colleague of mine keeps sending emails for the project I'm on all with the same subject line (the project name). I have hundreds of emails now all with the same subject and I often have to trawl through them individually looking for a detail I've been sent. I've had enough and told them that I won't be reading any more emails unless they have a meaningful subject that relates to the content so I can scan through them in the inbox.

I want to set a rule so that it automatically returns any email that contains the same two words in the subject and nothing else and only for that sender. For instance if I get 'The Project' it should bounce back to the sender but if it has 'The Project - how to bake a cake' I'd like to keep it.

How can I do this?

I don't think you can 'bounce back' messages. You could set a rule that automatically deletes them, or shifts them to a junk folder and sends an auto-reply. also not sure if you can selectively pull out two words, but allow others with the same two words in... I'll have to look when I get to work.

Bouncing isn't required, just a auto-reply is good enough, thanks.

I've used this before with some success:
