Hey guys,
I was wondering how difficult it is to remove the tank from a Kawasaki GT550 for painting.

I'm not sure if it's a straight forward removal as you would normally do with a gravity fed carb or whether there are other complications such as the fuel gauge etc.

Thanks in advance.

Easy.
Take seat off.
Take out bolt at the seat end.
Lift up at the back and remove the pipes for the fuel and the electric connector for the fuel gauge. It's a vacuum fed so should not leak fuel (iirc tap only has on, reserve and prime).

Don't turn the tap to prime,I think that bypasses the vacuum.

Leave it set to on. Never had a problem.

You may find two rubber pipes. Undo the thicker one after the fuel tap. IIRC the thinner one is for the vacuum feed. Then there's a white electric connector for the fuel gauge.

The thicker one is fuel, the thinner is the vacuum. There's no need to think about it really. If the fuel tap works alright, then leaving it on ON will shut the fuel, so just take the hoses off as you feel it, there's no prescribed order. Thumbs Up

At least the GPz was like that, and it's the same thing as your GT, if I'm correct.
