hi so following on from last nights breakdown mystery.
been looking at the bike since finishing work.

took me a few hours although it should have been one of the first things i checked.

so dropped it into first with engine off, pull clutch inand can hardly move the bike, (as if the clutch cable isnt working)
ive followed the clutch cable through the bike upto the point it enters the engine, and it doesnt appear to be snapped,

i still have tension on the clutch cable itself aswell,

now.
how would i go about fixing it, is it a new cable thats needed?
or is there away of tightning it maybe its not fully disengaging when im pulling the clutch in

cheers guys

also,
insurance did get back in touch, there was no issue and the woman that spoke to me originally was a "trainee"
apology accepted MCE Neutral Thumbs Up

update*

so after trying to tighten from the handlebar end, that made little difference so followed it into the engine bit, and done from there, it has made a small difference but now im concerned there may be something more than just a loose clutch cable.

the bike can be pushed when putting in first and holding clutch in, but its alot of resistance,

when in neutral (green light illuminated) the bike moves freely

If the bike's cold, it's typically hard to push it when it's in gear, even when the clutch is in. Run your bike for a few minutes and then put it in 1st with the clutch in (and engine off) and see if it moves more freely.

right ive had the bike running for abit, did seem easier but now i have a mate over i think i can see a problem,

the chain has become very loose. (i know how to tighten them)
but when pushing forward in gear with clutch in engine off the chain is becoming taught on the bottom. but in neutral the chain is fine doesn't have that restrictive taught, so im going to tighten the chain to spec

only thing i can think off is before the bike just cut out the first time it sounded like the clutch or chain had slipped.

generally i check the bike on a morning before i ride. chain etc

have i stumbled across a bigger problem, as i wouldnt of thought a loose chain would cause the bike to stall when put in gear?

Hi guys

just to let people know ive fixed the issue and thought id explain for such times someones searching for the same problems on the forums. (nice like that Christmas Hat )

So firstly like to say a tremendous thank you too bikenut https://www.bikechatforums.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=75629

he took the time to message me personally and gave me loads of advice and things to try, i learned alot along the way. so thanks mate! Thumbs Up great effort Smile

so after speaking with bike nut on how to adjust clutch cables and other things i got to the point of giving up.
i managed to get the bike in a position where as i could go into first and move to about 5-6MPH Before bike cut out again.

so as you do, i lay down with my hands in my head and as i looked toward the bike could see something upon the chain.

non the less was a beyond mangled wire Shocked Brick Wall

followed wire and it was for the side stand switch.

so i bypassed the side-stand safety switch un-mangled said wire checked nothing chain wise was was injured and hey presto bike worked woo! Mr. Green

(also had to fix wiring for indicators as when i was previously checking electrics like others suggested i got one snagged on the metal frame behind the centre console)

none the less so pleased, as a mechanic was gonna come out and charge me £20 for picking the bike up then aprox £30 for doing the work

so saved £50 win win really.

anyway cant believe i didn't spot this before, i even sat and had a look at side stand switch. but wasnt until i was laying down with a view of underneath the bike that i noticed,

anyway.
damage video below

chains been tightened as per manual lubed and gave it all a good clean

and especially bikenut.
