NSR service

Hey everyone, just want to check up on something. When do NSR's need servicing? I can't remember when they need a major/minor servicing. I'm bidding on one at the moment and it's done 4200 miles, haven't managed to get hold of the owner yet and want to know.

Nsr's first major service is at 8thou i believe, i used to get mine serviced ever 4k miles, and let the garage decide if its a major or minor based on the milage.

Most expensive service i had was £120 ish

Every four thousand sounds about right, but it will be detailed in the service history book, and your local Honda dealer will be able to give you the most accurate answers. Speak to the owner and see what they have had done already and what they say they've been told it needs doing and when, as they will have been told by Honda when they bought it.

Would really be worth trying to contact the seller before you bid much higher as I mean they could never have serviced it, and you don't really have that much of an idea of what you're bidding on so would be best if you can go and view it before the auction ends so that you know what you're bidding on exactly and you then are in a better position to decide how much it would be worth to you.

To be honest there is no major service for the nsr...well not really all the services are simply an oil, plugs, brake pad and filter change. At 8k they asses the piston and the rings to decide if they need changing...and thats not to say they will my nsr did 16k miles without needing the rings changed...just depends what 2 stroke u use and how u look after it.

But later on in the bikes life you start needing dust seals and bearings etc.

i could have sworn it is every 2,500 on the NSR to keep it upto date with warrenty and the like

i've had it booked in every 2.5K or so.... this last one cost me £200 new chain and sprocket set, new chain tensioners and the rear brake caliper had to be rebuilt due to a siezed retention pin

mines at 18K now the mechanic recconons she is as sweet as a nut with no signes of fatigue on the piston head, rings or the cylinder barrel which is good.... although he did mention that they tend to sieze or spit a pin when they are ready

most expensive must have been near £300 for new set of tyres, full chain and sprocket set and i think a few other odds and ends...

hmm... i guess a new R6 won't make to much of a difference to my finances, it can't really make my credit card cry any more than it already does now
