Hi All,

So I installed the heated grips and all working ok .

I haven't ridden the bike yet but can feel the heat from the grip which I think will help in winter.

The manufacture (Oxford) mentioned it should be wired straight to battery but I did wire it to the a relay using my flasher led relay as the switch to turn it on with ignition.

Now my question is , both grips seems to be good however on the throttle side, once heated up, you can move the grip as rotating it but not in and out .

is this normal ? can it lead to crash ?

There is a small gap between the bar end and the grip as I had to cut it to ensure the throttle can return to its normal position after it is opened or rotated as below :

Many thanks in advance

the throttle grip side is twisting but not twisting the throttle?

nightmare to ride like that at anything above queuing traffic speed, my non heated grip came un stuck not long ago, felt like my arm was dropping off trying to keep throttle on.

grip glue needed perhaps

I'd use some super glue on it. I need to do the same with my clutch side. Hairspray works fine until I use the higher tempretures, then the grip moves, when it goes cold again it's stuck fast.

Yes it could cause a crash if it rotates enough to prevent your brake from being operated.

I would remove the grip, and wrap some self-amalgamating tape around the throttle.

Leave it for a couple of hours before re-fitting the grip with the appropriate adhesive.

cool . I shall leave as it is and if it was troublesome then take it off an re fit with more glue .

but surley oxford would have though that when the glue gets hot it looses its adhesivity so why do they ask you to use it ?

I personally found hairspray rubbish for heated grips as when they get hot they slide.

Hair spray turns very tacky when dry, and when it's wet it helps the grips slide into place, for normal grips I'd recommend it.

I find when heated grips get hot it does something to it that stops it being tacky and makes it slippery.

Oxford recommend super glue and provide such.

R&G sell renthal grip glue. It is not good at sticking shiny plastics together.

There are plenty of slightly flexible repair glues that are sufficiently temperature resistant, raid b&q or similar. Good if a little gap filling is required.

I used High Temp epoxy to sort the R&G heated grips I had. worked, but needed a new throttle twist at replacement time. £5 so not a big problem.

I (no joke) used fairy liquid for mine. It is really well stuck! Maybe worth giving that a bash.

It kept coming off no matter how much super glue I put on there.

I did manage to glue it using hair spray and super glue and trying it now , fingers crossed.

it did get very hot as soon as I use the combination of above and started to melt down Very Happy

I did put plenty or roll paper on the side panels to ensure not glue makes its way on to the panel .

annoyingly , few drops spilled on the tissues which managed to go through two layers of it and get on the side panel .

I tried to take it off but it doesn't come off . It hasn't taken the paint off .
will it take the paint off in time or will it come off ?
