I'm sure there's a million of these threads and feel free to point that out but I can't seem to find any that don't also include something unrelated to my problem.

I'm got a Bandit that is having trouble starting up. I managed to get it to start last week after nearly running the battery flat by twisting the throttle and hitting the ignition, but today the battery died...

The other bikes I've had have never had a problem, even when left for 2-3 weeks. The Bandit can't last a week without failing to ignite. I've tried to get into the habit of starting it up once every few days, but sometimes you forget. Are these bikes notorious for not firing up?

Not really. Mine wouldn't start if you diddn't give it full choke & twisting the throttle would usually make it cut out.

Full choke, press starter, straight away. Let it rev at like 5k whilst putting helmet & gloves on, then gradually wind the choke off.

How old is the battery?

Has the temperature dropped where you are?

I'd assume that your battery never getting charged fully, or your alarm is draining it. Or it's just deaded.

I put the choke on and nothing. Twisting the throttle would give little sputters every now and then. The battery is fairly old I think and the temperature is low. I don't have an alarm.

Why are you touching the throttle?

Just starting it without taking it for a good spin, especially in these colder temperatures, will probably put more drain on the battery than charge. If you're not using the bike for a while at a time, put the battery on a conditioner/charger.

The only time I've ever found this helpful was on the CR. 1/8th-1/4throttle, pull choke pin up, kickstart down once slowly...feel it go tight, big kick and then holding it on that throttle position whilst reaching down to flick the choke off. Few blips whilst waiting for it to warm & when it's up to temp it'll idle on its own.

Fucktard of a copper couldn't figure out that it wouldn't start otherwise whilst trying to kick it over despite my protests from the floor & insting that he left it alone. In the end the sales guy from work came and got it, then had to bump it as they'd flooded the thing Rolling Eyes
