New lighting for the living room and a new oak mantle. Waiting for a builder to come and sort something out in two weeks then I can start painting.

They're a doddle to put up, bit of cove adhesive and you're sorted. I'm not on facebook but like the sound of those.

Since my paddock stands went walkies I picked these up for £40.

They seem to be well made and dont flex like the old tubular design ones.

Whenever I see you post about boats, this is how I imagine you look.

I'm not sure what celing light I'm going for at the moment the wall lights are pipe steampunkish style.

Considering going for something like below for the main light so not sure the ceiling rose would fit it.

Noooo it really is plaster, he hand-moulds every single skull, and has a selection of different ones, and is prepared to paint them in an assortment of suitably gothy colours if required.

He started doing it cos he did a fantastic job on his girlfriend's fireplace (labour of love, I suspect) - and it just went from that to bits and pieces of other stuff. I think I need to direct him to a way of making a decent living from it, cos he does have a certain knack. He once carved me a love heart from a piece of mahogany (I think it was), while he was working on it, the wood smelt wonderful ... like incense.

I did actually suggest cake / icing things, but he reckons its too competitive a market already.

Ooo, that's nice.
I really wish I could get him to grasp the point of steampunk, but he's pretty much stuck in skulls/coffins mode.

I was round there last night, he's in the middle of another one, some of his previous creations are kind of neat stuff (if you like that kinda thing). A pretty amazing coffee table and coffin shaped mirrors. He just does his own thing.

I'm trying* to talk him into designing me some little tombstones for my garden pots. He's given me some cute little plain white cross-with-skulls (3" tall) that he already made a while ago, to put in there in the meantime. I might have to stain them with tea to get that weathered look, though.

For my sins, I've been put in charge of his FB page whilst his girlfriend is taking a sabbatical. But I'm not terribly good at that sort of malarkey. Sure I can share and tag and link, but gothfulness isn't really my thing, I have a soul of light and beauty, not a heart of darkness Shocked

Still ... I guess I should step up to the plate if I want to get him to do some stuff for me.

Sorry. Must. Not. Spam... I'll put a link in me sig ... eventually ..

Yeah hopefully should out quite nice mahogany furniture, pale green walls with the pipe side lights (image below look better in real life) and a piece of art over the mantle shelf that I've got.

Would be pretty cool if you could get him into steampunk, I've got some figurines that were made by a friend as a leaving gift from work. It's actually pretty cool at the moment and apparently selling quite fast.

You will have to send me the link through facebook if you don't want to post it on here. I'm quite hopeless at finding things on there at the moment.

Bathroom tiles, towel rail, upvc ceiling cladding and skirting, shower, shower screen, LED lights and a door stopper.

Basically a new bathroom bar the porcelain and bath.

Not been on here much lately due to tiling and clearing up the mess in between.
Thankfully on the home straight with it now though, just the grouting, ceiling, skirt and electrics to finish which is all relatively clean.

If you don't already have one, get a ball ended grout finishing tool, you'll thank me once you've used one.
I've seen a lot of good tiling jobs spoiled by uneven grouting.

Source - The 1000's of tiles I've fixed in my time.

Something like this

Got ^

Used it when I laid the floor tiles, that was better than a wet finger or wooden spoon.

The gaps are only 2-3mm on the wall tiles (large format travertine) so I'll probably just use a wet sponge. Will see how it goes.

I typically use 3mm spacers on wall tiles up to 6inch square, works great for getting uniform grout depth even at that size.

And I just bought some new earrings. Because one of my balls has fallen out. Shocked Yowza!
