Bought a Merlin jacket a while back. Wasn't happy with the fit so sent it back. Have been looking for something else and
have gone for the an "Icon" branded waxed cotton affair, ordered again from Sportsbikeshop. I hope this one fits better.

Been on the fence over this jacket for a while but as soon as I realised it has a small St Christopher in a purpose made inside
pocket and small credit card sized card pockets plus a billfold I was like "Take my money!!!"

I bought a lockknife from a website years ago, and recently had an email about a closing down sale. They were selling a forged Samurai Sword reduced from £200 to £40, so I bought it. I don't need it, but I've wanted a genuine sharp forged Katana for years, and so now I have one.

The GF is unhappy, but it's a beautiful thing.

Nope, sadly.

The actual ancient arts of swordmaking have now all been lost essentially. This is a modern forged one, so it's probably not as good as something made up to the beginning of the 20th century.

I disagree

There are a number of videos on youtube showing swords being forged in traditional ways, many of the traditional ways of making Samurai swords were developed to work around poor quality materials

I suspect a sword made using traditional methods from modern high quality steels would better then an blade made a 100 years ago

Sunday Roast for two £30

Tax for the transit £250

Second hand pair of Sidi Vertebra, old style boots but in excellent, hardly worn condition. £50 + £7p&p

My old Spada predators are worn smooth both feet and I wanted a replacement lightweight boot to wear when I
don't want to wear my Robocop specials aka my Sidi ST's. The ST's are too bulky to fit under my kevlar jeans so hopefully
these Vertebra boots will take the place of my Spadas as my light duty boots.

It's all a guess. The quality of the steel is in some ways irrelevant because it's the carbon content that is managed by the process and is why the older swords are better. Youtube videos will be of Japanese people who have come up with an approximation of the processes, but don't know how it was really done as it was never documented.

My sword for example is completely inflexible, but the older katanas pre 20th Century are more flexible. They arguably take more skill to wield but have a keener cutting edge. I'm sure it's possible to make a good sword with modern materials and techniques, but it's not possible to make one like they had pre Satsuma rebellion as the skills were lost when Japan was in the throes of modernisation.
