Over the weekend I did buy:
Two double cone-flake-and-chocolate syrup soft serve ice creams.
(not both for me, although I coulda ... Laughing )

And a slush puppy in blue and red.
Childishly satisfying.

at middle school the fuckwit headteacher was always banging on about handwriting, and was more interested in how someone wrote, rather than what they wrote, so we'd scribble our ideas down in a book, then copy them out later. Then one day he declared that there was no such thing as a "rough book" and he was on a mission to check everyones hand writing, he killed a all the creative writing and inspired thoughts right there.

I learned to touch type when I was a kid, but that wasn't good enough, never understood his obssession with fountation pens.

A bit of light restoration (surface rust removal, iron reprofiling and sole flattening) and they'll be good to go.

Do you ever use them or just like collecting and renovating old tools? I've done it on seized vises. Incredibly satisfying for some reason.

I do use them but the process of restoration is really satisfying in itself. I try not to remove too much of the patina though, there's something equally satisfying in seeing evidence of the years of use they've already had rather than ending up with a shiny out-of-the-box appearance. Smile

I've just purchased a new lid (Shoei GT air 2) as I had recently realised that my old Arai was, in fact rather old. I don't do many miles in a year and it has lived in its bag in the box in the cupboard for most of its life (that's a fair weather Ducati rider for you).

I did read somewhere that the emergency services sometimes use old helmets to practice on so I may look into that else I'll just attack it with the angle grinder so it can't be used and chuck it in the bin

And a new knox back protector as I bought my old on to go racing with but I haven't done any of that for almost 20 years... Embarassed

That's very smart. Shocked

As an aside, while I was at sea (and on my boat all) lifejackets were standard hi vis orange. I wonder if designer colour buoyancy aids are becoming popular because of the new SUP brigade. I've seen all different colours and flashy designs on the cut.

Gonna draw a line on the f*cked up eBay listing for a "pair" of paddock stands. I managed to wangle a £10 refund out of them. Just hope my bobbins turn up soon.

Bought some small upgrade items for both my bikes:

ZONTES ZT125-U:

Hardpoint mounted windscreen, hopefully won't be as shite as the handlebar mounted job I got on Amazon (bought for £30 and sold for £15 again on Gumtree as I didn't like it)

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003110036959.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.1cc94ebbDurSpD&algo_pvid=a7436c04-70fc-4663-a36b-c58d1f4fde02&algo_exp_id=a7436c04-70fc-4663-a36b-c58d1f4fde02-10&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000024148420266%22%7D

Cargo rack for the back of it, I bought a bigger topcase (48L) for the Kawasaki and I will take the 39L topcase and plate off the Kwak and put it on the Zontes.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003099000265.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.1cc94ebbDurSpD&algo_pvid=dce32967-8818-4ec3-b73a-fea2be0fe4f1&algo_exp_id=dce32967-8818-4ec3-b73a-fea2be0fe4f1-56&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000024076229295%22%7D

Also bought a heel-toe lever for gear changes, just wanted to see if it's alright to use and means I can wear normal shoes on my commute instead of having to take them and change into them at destination.

KAWASAKI ER6-F:

Got a cheap 48L topbox, the most important thing for me is that it can be detached from the mounting plate so I can put it into the boot of my car when it's not needed.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HOMCOM-Motorcycle-Luggage-Storage-Accessory/dp/B08B3PYV4Y/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=52l+top+box&qid=1631541803&sr=8-8

Got a touring screen for it so I can sit upright and not get blasted on the motorway as much.

Xbox series x. Rarer than pubes in Gary Glitter's private photo collection.

The nights are getting colder and longer. Microsoft flight sim 2020 looks bloody brilliant, and Forza 4 looks good.

Bing bong, this is your captain speaking. The inaugural flight to envyland will be taking off tomorrow. Laughing

I had one of those on my 1200 Goldwing Interstate. Once I got used to it I really liked it but it was a necessity on there as I had footboards instead of pegs. The only other bike I remember riding having that was a Honda C50. But of course auto clutch, great fun.

I bought it because I just like the idea of being able to ride in normal shoes.

Yes, yes the ATGAT boys don't like it but it's convenient. I used to go out on the bike fully geared up, but then I weighed up the pro's and con's of the situation: riding at 30mph in streets on my commute - yes, if I crash I will be injured more than when riding ATGAT, but the chances are really low and I want the convenience of just riding in my suit and just having a set of waterproof pull-ons in my bag if it starts to rain.

Hopefully it's alright, if it doesn't work out I just take it off and replace with the original and return to the status quo.

I bought Pixel 4a phone. It's not the latest tech, but the main camera still does make amazing pictures (the main camera is identical to all the Pixel phones from 3 to 5), it has got a 3.5mm jack and the display is very nice. The battery lasts long enough between charging (longer than the 4a 5G version) and I do enjoy the size of the device as well. I can fully operate the phone with one hand, which isn't given these days, with all those over sized phones.

I did consider the Pixel 4a 5G, but I don't like its bigger size and those extra features are just pointless to me. It's got 5G module, extra ultrawide lens camera and slightely faster chipset that alowes it to capture video up to 4K@60Hz (the 4a goes up to 4K@30Hz). Otherwise, both phones have exaxtly the same amount of RAM and storage space, both have exactly the same main camera, microphones, speakers, audio playback quality, bluetooth codecs..., pretty much all those features that I normally use are exactly the same on both phones. I also never felt like LTE was slow for what I use my phone for, so 5G module isn't something that I would need at the moment, or in nearest future. LTE is ubiquitous these days and here to stay till 2030 or so, but I use wi-fi for downloading stuff anyway.

TL; DR: I got a new toy and I like it.

Those blue bin bags that you can put rubble in. Innit.
But I'm not putting rubble in, cos the dustbin men won't take it otherwise.
Bless their poor little wristies.

See, now ... I need one of those.
Cos the GSX battery is pretty much flat.
So before I go to the expense of buying a new one, got to give it a go with a charger, right?

But when I google "optimate 3", the range of prices is enormous.
How less efficient are the cheaper ones ?
Why would you, etc.
I do need one. I just have to know *which* one.

from what i understand the 3 is the cheapest one that will rejuvenate neglected batteries. 1 and 2 just charge/maintain. which is why i went for 3. cost £48 posted from sportsbike shop.
