What's your opinions on running a Pilot Power 3 rear with a pilot road 3 front? Good/bad idea?

and the reason why I'm asking...

Ordered a pair of pilot road 3's off Openeo and they've sent me a pilot power 3 rear instead of a pilot road 3.
I'm guessing the mistake was made when I called them last week to ask where my rear tyre was, as the front had arrived but not the rear and they said it was lost in transit and they'd put a new order in for me. So I've had a PR3 front tyre sitting in the garage for a week and today I come to collect my rear from my mums to find it's a Pilot power.

I called them and they've been good enough to say they'll come and collect it and replace but to be frank I CBA waiting for a replacement especialy going by my recent experience. I just need new tyres put on ASAP as mine are very bald.

Sorry for the Tef like post

Edt: tyres will be used throughout winter for commuting.

I'm sure it will be fine for the <4000 miles you'll get from it.

I'd send it back and get what I paid for.

I'd return it and get the PR3. It'll give more confidence, mileage and grip for the sake of waiting a week.

The courtesy bike I had for a few weeks had 2 different brands on it. Metzler on the front and Bridgestone on the rear. I never died and the bike was treated like a hire bike should be.

Blatant disregard for the machine and balls out (or as balls out as an NC750S would allow.)

It's really the wrong time of year to be using a Pilot Power tyre imo.

I wouldn't do it. The tyres may have substantially different warm-up rates for one thing. That might be ok if the quicker-warming tyre is the front one, but I don't like the idea of having a front that takes longer to warm than the rear, which is what you're suggesting to do. Maybe my thinking is flawed, but that's how I feel about it. I'd stick with a matched pair.

Tbf road tyres or road biased tyres will work well over a wider temp range,so,chances are it'll work fine and heat up quickly enough.

Well either go to a local bike tyre place and get a pair fitted, then send both back....

Or fit and ride...

Clearly you need new tyres on the bike. So is the wait and risk worth it...
