Halfords Advanced Professional 120 Piece Socket Set

Very good quality socket set for nearly Aldi/Lidl prices. Well worth it to anyone who needs a set.

Their smaller 1/4 drive tends to pop up at £19.95 over Christmas, these are a fantastic little set for carrying on a bike.

Decent for the home mechanic - I wouldn't earn my living with it though.

This is about the right price for this set, I'd say - you'd be a mug to pay more.

Still wouldn't be my choice of £60 on tools.

3/8th ratchet failed on the first day of use on mine.

Today only! And the rest of the year that it's on sale.

Lack of 6 sided sockets to get a recommendation from me. I still use it a reasonable amount. And the lifetime guarantee is the lifetime of the receipt which fades after about a year.

While were at it..
Can anybody vouch for this?

The price seems alright, but as has already been pointed out, some of their stuff is hit and miss.

I have that, bought it about 5 years ago now. No doubt its changed, but it's lasted well. All the draws still silky smooth.

My only grumble are the wheels on the bottom, they're a bit crap if you try and move it when it's full. It feels like you're dragging it and it'll tip over more than rolling it. I don't really care as I very rarely move it. Edit: I can see the wheels are bigger than mine, so the design has changed.

Today only? To me that sounds like their way of saying it'll be cheaper tomorrow. Razz

I've not been impressed by the normal halfords tool chests.
Halfords pro and expert are ok, however.

No complaints about my halfrauds pro tool chest. They had their typical sale prices with everything reduced, therefore I found a tool chest that they didn't have in stock so got further reductions on the one which on the display model.

Bought it five or six years ago, haven't managed to break it yet and right now it's the centerpiece in my living room. Mr. Green

Scan / photograph the receipt and keep a copy safe digitally. Wink

Note that the linked one isn't a 'pro'.
