When Santa brings me that time machine in the morning, I'll go back to last week and take a look Wink

Or maybe I'll wait until Sunday night.....

Cheers for the tip, added that to the TiVo's recording schedule. Should enjoy this, one of my close biker friends was/is a huge Sheene fan, wouldn't mind seeing what all the fuss is about.

I've only recently gotten a bike but have always been into GPs, WSB, etc thanks to my dad. He was a big Sheene fan and so by proxy I am, I'll have a watch.

There are also some GP recordings from Australian TV on Youtube where he is commentating. He is so insightful and can really describe what those bastard, unforgiving 500s were upto in the late 80s/early 90s: https://www.youtube.com/user/FullThrottlePilot

I may have been drinking but all in all he's a f'n hero and I'm privileged to have seen him in a few classic races.

Christ Vic Reeves makes my riding look spirited (it ain't!) painful to watch but god did it make me jealous of those young in the 70's Sad

Laughing

Anyone know what the other 2 programs are gonna be about?

Edit: Surtees & (Graham) Hill, should be alright.

There's a limit to how many British racers can be considered to be genuine legends and still remain in the public consciousness enough to stand an hour of telly.

Jim Clark has to be on the agenda and, now they've done a biker, Hailwood has to be on the list.

As they went back to the 50s with Stirling Moss, I suppose Geoff Duke could be a possible and the Colin McRae profile leaves the door open for Roger Clark.

I suppose James Hunt would be an obvious choice, but 'Rush' has probably told everyone all they need to know about him.

I guess the problem will be matching the celeb with the racer, in that both need to be well known enough to give the audience something to make it an appointment to watch.

The BBC did a very occasional drama series on British daredevil racers, with Robert Hardy as Sir Malcolm Campbell, Anthony Hopkins as Donald Campbell and Rowan Atkinson as Sir Henry 'Tim' Birkin; the next was meant to be about Mike Hawthorn, but it hasn't happened yet, sadly.
