Unsure if anyone gives a damn, but theres likely a few gamery types/sadacts on here that may appreciate. I'm a bit of an addict when it comes to Zombies
Basicly, if you've ever played COD zombies you'll be well aware of this;

Well, I figured that a replica one of those to keep all the Xbox games, controllers & leads in would be pretty cool & it'd be a pretty unique thing to have sat under the tree full of xmas gifts! There's a few replicas online, however I really diddn't want to piss more than an afternoons work into it, or more than about £30.
This worked out to be pretty much perfect dimensions. It also had the rope handles in the sides...£16? Bargain.

It showed up a bit green, and battered. But then the whole battered up thing saves the effort of trying to fake patina and wear on another wooden box, win.

Popped on Wordpad and printed a template on A4. Arial size 700 in bold I think seemed closest to the actual font on the box. Gave that a quick blast over in Halfords machine yellow enamel.

At which point Paddy and J.M decided that a million cool points could be added by fitting a sound module. Back to ebay.

Grabbed those. Hooked it up & recorded the mystery box sound off my phone...seemed to work pretty good;

Got it set up so it'd play when the button was held in and not looping.
Then headed out to maplins to grab a project enclosure & a microswitch. £6 later I had this;

So when the powers on, the box is closed & silent. When the switch pops open as the box is opened it plays the audio clip.

Win. And ought to protect the module pretty good.
Glued the sound box in the bottom of the box, screwed the switch into the side. It is pretty quiet on the video as I think I had my thumb over the microphone, but you get the idea.
If I re-did it i'd definately use a bigger speaker or some sort of amplifier board. Possibly rig some sort of lighting into the bottom of it, however for a first attempt I'm pleased with the outcome.
Finished box;

OK not knocking the build, but not mant days ago you were bitching you were skint and you had to sell the bike, car, kittens etc.
Wouldn't the cash have been better spent on food than a box?

Finish last year quite skint, have a little H100 commuter hack and a wrecked motocross bike to restore.
Spend all of winter bulding a bike, which proved to have a lot more issues than it originally seemed to, causing me to have to sell my H100 & run the credit card up to try and finish it.
Get 4.4hrs use out of it & then get taken out by a car being left with plates in my arm and 20% loss of movement.
Freind crashes his DR-Z and puts head through a five bar gate. Spends a long time in ICU at Kings & is given a 20% chance of survival. This was a very worrying time.
Miss doing loads of stuff I wanted to do all through summer because sitting in a cast.
End up in masses of debt due to having to run an automatic rental car that consumes fuel like it's going out of fashion.
Council tax gets fucked up at this point for some unknown reason & they start making payment demands.
Get fucked on the interim payment that diddn't exist & all cards go overlimit & default notices issued.
Council tax reaches final demand stages and I'm taken to court over it.
Smash two classic bikes up at work & have to pay for them both out of my own pocket.
I convince a freind to take one of my spare lids (a really shit one) & chuck me his Scorpion so as I can get it sent off for repair before he gets his GSXR1000. He gets the GSXR & gets sideswiped by a lorry a week later, the chinbar on the lid I loaned him fails completely. Two skull fractures, broken jaw, broken nose, most of teeth missing. I blame myself for this as I knew the lid wasn't great.
Then wintertime comes, the car fucks up & I end up taking the other half to work on that every day, with no winter gear because it all got ruined in the crash.
Then wrist gets cold, starts going all gammy again & causes mucho pains, and I start getting woken up having cramp in my leg a lot at night (badly enough that I'd often walk with a limp for a few days after)
Then due to the stresses of all the above I start arguing lots with the other half and taking it out on her, and she finally leaves me a few weeks before christmas. I've been with her five years & the worst bit was getting handed a box with an engagement ring in it to be told that she'd bought it around a year ago as she'd been that serious about me & figured we'd be spending the rest of our lives together. I must be a heartless cunt.
I then get banned from BCF
I then start getting in shit with work as I cant concentrate, keep making silly mistakes and such.
At this point its now christmas, I'm alone, pretty much skint & spend most of my time sitting in my flat with my cats thinking about how much of a prick I am & eating painkillers. |

Yup, however it was part of an xmas gift for the now ex. Figured I needed to actually get her something sorted out incase I somehow managed to persuade her to come back. Hence its full of presents in final video. Got a load of smaller lolbits that'd make her smile because was skint rather than one large gift as is normal.
If she showed up back, and I diddn't have her any xmas gift then it would have given the inlaws more ammunition.
However, diddn't want to put a downer on the thread
