Hi all. I have a '97 DTR. I've set the PV up according to the Haynes Manual. The drill bit in the little hole then tightening the securing nuts etc.

Anyway, it'll line up with the hole during the little cleaning cycle it does, but when it's running it's a little out of the hole, which is affecting the performance dramatically. (Whilst revving it, even on the limiter it's out from the hole)

I'm hearing it could be all different things.

Here is the exhaust port with it doing its cleaning cycle.

Thanks for reading. Thumbs Up

Edit: I just wanted to clarify, the topend is fine. The engine is fine. With the PV pinned it'd happily do 60 MPH with ease. The problem is the bottom end it's boggy due to it being pinned, so I want to run it on the servo.

does the pulley come back to the check mark when its running? a low battery could cause the PV to not fully return, as could seized PV cables, a seized or partially seized PV, cables not adjust correctly or a fubar'd PV servo or dirty connectors, or a bad engine earth

It's doing the cleaning cycle fine and lining up with the hole. But when the engine is started and revving, it never makes it to the little opening hole.

If it's a 125, shouldn't it be doing more than 60mph with a working PV?

A lot of 17 year old's lie about the top speed. Personally I've never seen a DT do 100MPH like most claim. Mine does a maximum of 70 odd MPH ragging the hell out of it. It's a low power 125CC. I've ridden KX 80 and 85's that'll probably have it all through the gears up until the max speed. MX 125's a DT wouldn't even touch.

My 2007 DTR did 85, mad little thing, stock apart from grounding out a wire behind the headlight which I think prevents the PV from opening up all the way or something like that. Before I did that the bike was very underwhelming, it refused to go over about 60mph. Destroyer of all 4 stroke 125's Thumbs Up
