Hello to all, to all Hello!

After searching galore on ThumperTalk and any other forums I could find.

I still remain unknowingly to the correct Jetting specs after installing the

DRZ Hot Rods 4mm Stroker Crank alone. Thus bringing the dr zed to a

424cc.

I have the standard size carb and the standard piston. Having this all
can

still work with the crank kit installed, but alas like I said, I would just like

to know the correct/ best jetting kit I need to follow this upgrade!

This post is been put up to start a discussion or any advice on the

matter (which I fully and truly appreciate)!

Any questions about my bike I can answer if it helps

DRZ 400 SM 2007 K7

Thanks in advance ! ! !

With the standard CV carb instead of the more tuneable FCR carb from the 'E' version,I would suggest buying the kit from https://www.jdjetting.com/xcart/home.php as they will have a kit tailored for that specific carb. You normally get a selection of main jets and two needles.

For other jets go to https://www.allensperformance.com/products.html

What will also make a differance is what air filter and silencer you choose to run.The stock items are restrictive,so if you are making the effort to install a stroker crank,it would be worthwhile looking to do a higher compression piston from say Wiseco and if you wanted to go further,a pair of performance cams from Yoshimura. Then a gas flowed head and installing the FCR carb would be more worthwhile Thumbs Up

Be careful with jetting advice from yanks, their climate is very different from ours generally.

Weird set up you've got there, stroker but stock otherwise? My pal had a stroker + big bore + hot cams + fcr41 and the gearbox kept eating itself, very much the limit of what the DRZ can handle whilst been thrashed around the countryside, so he's going to stick to standard crank from now on and bb + fcr39 I would assume.

No idea what the power gains of just the crank would be but bet my setup would produce more power due to the carb which makes it feel like a new bike. Skip fannying on with a standard cv carb and go to an fcr and consider e cams, usually much cheaper than hot cams or yoshi which I never see for sale tbh.

(Meant to post yesterday before there were any other replies, but didn't click 'submit' it seems, so along with what others have suggested...)

I doubt it'll help many others - most people would just get a faster bike if they wanted one you'd hope Wink.

I'd have thought it'd make sense to get an FCR carb for a start - a common mod to the S/SM models and is stock on the more powerful E model.

Best bet I'd have thought is to get to a dyno place that can get it setup which has appropriate jets in stock.

I have the famous bottom end Knock on the DRZ and will be having a look

inside, at the same time needing to change cam chain.

So I thought why not whack something new and improved in whilst it's

split.

I know the bigger carb helps but I'm at a budget and researched stroker

crank can still be done standard carb and piston. I already have the 3x3

mod, and a slip on FMF powercore 4 zorst.

Really would just be over the moon finding out what Jetting I need, but

can't think who or where to ask to find out on the mark.

Would love to thank the replies and any further more as it is not your

duty to help but it still flows thick ! Thank you !

I wouldn't say it's famous, the first sign of trouble is usually excessive oil burning, hence why I've seen loads of people big bore their bike not just change the crank Smile Crank issues are pretty rare I would say. Usually people fanny about jetting the stock carb and by the time they're done and have saved up they want an fcr anyways, that's why it's always my first suggestion.

I would recommend the forum at drz400uk.org for more specific advice too, hopefully BMK should reply, he has done almost everything worth doing to a drz and messed about with carbs for years and years.

Because you'll likely cause yourself more problems when the best solution to wanting a faster bike is generally to get a faster bike? Wink
