Anyone playing? £11.24 at the mo, a friend pointed me in its direction today. Looks like it might be worth a punt.

Played a lot of it. It's good fun if a bit diddly to control and a system hog.

Be careful how you set up your world - random meteor showers can do a lot of damage and you need gun turrets to mount a mostly effective defense.

Don't go too nuts with combat to start with - those AI ships you see passing by will cut you to ribbons if you're not careful.

Keep a ship cockpit around to recharge your life support.

If you can set it up, you can save a lot of trouble setting up your little construction pods (far far far better than hand tools) to use batteries rather than fuel and recharge from docking ports.

Bought it a few days ago when it was 6 quid, spent 115 hours on it so far.

I've a few mates in MURICA! that join my server, it's better with a couple of other people.

But it is also all right just to fart about on your own

My friend, whose server it was, found building inside a hollowed out asteroid ensured a supply of materials to build the base as you went and also a natural defense against those meteor showers.

The downside is flying around the outside of the damn thing trying to find the entrance, a la the Coriolis stations in Elite.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00I1BRCJ2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00

I'm not really up on specifications, will it run it? It runs Kerbal Space program on medium...

Ok, I can understand most of it, the graphics card....how do I know if it's the same or equivalent, as there doesn't seem to be an order...

I.e Minimum requirements is a 8800GT, or recommended is a GTX460.

How do you order GFX cards?

I wouldn't have a clue how Radeon worked out their cards, not that I would ever own one.... but if I'm not sure I'll just google the specifications of the cards (not that I need to these days)

Are you going to host a private game? Public ones tend to attract griefers, I'm told (hence the presence of weaponry) and personally it's more fun just building stuff than it is having to build stuff to go and fight with.

How's everyone getting on with this?

I've had a play around, built some fairly basic small ships and stations. Anyone know how to save a design? (rather than just copy and paste?).

I've added a few mods, and am currently downloading a 1:1 replica of the titanic, wish my laptop good luck....it's gonna need it.

We need to get a BCF server going, a creative one. We need a 1km tall nobcat, that we can fly pink, phallic ships towards at high speed.

I downloaded a brilliantly made replica of the Discovery from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It brought my PC to its knees.

I don't know about saving designs (all the stuff on the workshop is, I think, basically someone's saved game) unless they've added that feature to the game since the lat time I've played.

My problem with the game is, unlike (or indeed, like) Minecraft, there's not much else to do apart from building a little project that you can't do much with. All that turning on PvP will do is let you spend hours building someone then some knob end can come and attach a warhead to it and blow it up. Raiding the AI ships that you'll see flying past can be fun but again, there's not much point.

That sounds pretty damn cool.

Are you using any mods, or just the stock blocks?

Totally stock blocks.

Fires objects at ~360m/s. This is the baby version - I'm working on designing something far tastier that's not so much ship-portable as it is the actual ship.

:edit:
When I've spent enough time getting the MacDaddy version right, I may be persuaded to share the blueprints.

There are certain standards it must meet first. Such as the ability to knock a hole clean through an asteroid, using nothing more than a bit of rock.

Then I shall work on loading it with warhead-tipped torpedoes.

:edit: initial calculations suggest that the large one will top out at something like 4km/s, if the physics model doesn't crap out at me.
:edit 2: Currently coming up against a 230G brick wall, which is a bit frustrating. I shall have to experiment further.
