OK, my youngest has a Motohispania Furia SM50 (sort of DT50 clone with road tyres)

Over Christmas, I get a call saying it has stopped and can he be rescued after work.

Pop across with the van to find that even with my huge lump of a bod, I can not kick it over, so very well seized, big time.

Looks like there was a blockage in the 2 stroke line and starved the engine of oil, hence the catastrophic failure

Options....
1) Remove 2 stroke AM6 engine and get it fixed with an 80cc oversize.

2) Remove engine and see what is about to replace it with as a direct replacement.

3) Scrap the whole thing, E-bay as a spares or repair and wait the 2 months until he is 17, when he can get his CBF125 on the road (waiting in the garage) and resign myself to ferrying him about for the time being.

Now baring in mind, he is off to Cardiff this weekend, then on to Brizzol for the next fortnight with work, we are talking about 4-6 weeks before he is on the 125.

I am inclined to go for Option 3 as it is the easiest and cheapest option for him, but thoughts would be welcome.

Cheers

Mike

step 4.. fix it may just get away with gaskets and piston ...as long as its not score above exhaust port .... put it on ebay and buy a cbf 125 4 stroke is always a better option https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50cc-CYLINDER-BARREL-PISTON-KIT-HEAD-for-MINARELLI-EU1-EU-1-AM6-AM-6-LIQUID-LC-/361137741574?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item54157c9f06 buy this ? not a big investment and sell it on

All the best
Brad

Hi,
forget the bbk, just asking for trouble.
remove head & cylinder to see what damage is.
repair & THEN sell.
far easier to sell a standard, running bike than a broken one.
cheers,
GAZ

Cheers guys for the info/advice.

TBH on thinking about it, it was bought about 12 months ago for £300 and been used almost daily by the lad since then, so it does not really owe me anything.

If I were to just chuck it in a ditch, I recon that it has saved me more that that on time and effort in being Dad's taxi over the period.

Think I'll put it on E-Bay or a local Facebook sales page and see what I can get, anything over £50 and I'll be happy Smile

Ta

Mike
