Got some new bicycle tyres today (CONTINENTAL COMFORT CONTACT 700 x 32c CITY COMMUTER ROAD) The tyre I fitted to rear wheel seems to have a bulge in sidewall. Took it off, looks ok inside. It feels perhaps a bit thinner where its bulging. The tube seems a bit big for the tyre but I doubt this could cause it?!? and the front is ok with same tube.

The bulge is perhaps 10mm diamerter and 1-2mm deep. Not very visible but immediately feel it if rotating the wheel.

They were from an ebay shop and arrived twisted / folded in half so as to be much smaller to post - wire bead type. They seem to spring back into normal shape when unpacking them, no visible damage.

Although yours sound like a good make i purchased some cheap ones from ebay and fitted both pumped them up and then within 2 days they had blown a big hole through the tube and tyres..

I complained wanting my money back they sent me 2 new tyres and 2 new tubes !! guess what ? after 2 days they were all damaged even when i under inflated them !!

Bit the bullet and paid for 2 branded tyres from halfrauds and they have been fine ever since...

Certainly a case of buy cheap buy twice Razz

Return them, they shouldn't have been folded.

Some tyres these days are folded, it's not necessarily a problem.
If you refit the tyre and the bulge is in a different place, then I would suspect the inner tube or rim rather than the tyre - check the distance from the valve hole.

Use a pair of plastic tyre levers to do the job, not spoons. My guess is you pinched the inner tube.

Plenty are designed to be folded, though usually more expensive ones, which I'd expect you to have less problems with.

I had a similar issue with some cheap tyres on a mountain bike some years ago when I was racing - conveniently, a fellow racer who I had been helping with motorbike stuff owned a push bike shop.

He lowered the pressure, reseated the bead so it was even all the way around and pumped it up again - sorted the problem out.

I suspect they were twisted into a figure eight and then folded over which is fine and doesn't damage the bead.

Is it at the valve? Chances are you haven't seated it properly. I slightly inflate the tube before popping the second bead in.
