Hey guys.

New here, well been registered since 2009 but not been on.

Doing my Mod 2 in the next few weeks so going to use one of my Fathers vast collection of bikes.

A 1992 Suzuki GSX 600 F

Want to buy some bits to give it a full service and oil change etc, but some have been telling me that it's a Katana model, others a Jap import and others a UK standard model.

Problem being they can't tell me the differences.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Looks the same as the UK 1992 one I had for a short time, bar from the gash paint job.

It's a GSX600F. In America, probably other countries too it's called a Katana but we wouldn't suffer that over here in deference to the proper Katana

Just call it a teapot and everyone will know what you mean Smile

Cheers.

Just wanna service it and get it ready to go.

Hoping to keep it for 12 months and then buy something a little newer.

Yeah, the American market has a habit of tarring multiple different models with the same name - see the endless list of Kawasakis with the 'Ninja' title on the US market for examples.

It's a teapot, no question.

The engine in those is pretty robust, although the suspension and brakes won't be amazing if left as stock.

How come it has the spray job like that and different font on the front panels and tank? Has it been involved in an accident at some point in its life? Thinking

Given the fact it's worth about 300, I wouldn't bother looking in to it.

Thanks a lot.

Yea I have noticed the brakes are not the best, although I'm hoping with an overhaul and a bit of use they may be ok.

Was done by the previous owner. No recorded damage although it has been dropped as you can tell by the scuffs.

Was going to wrap it but as I'll only have it for 12 months or so I can't really be bothered lol.

The fact it's not worth a lot is the entire point in me using it really. I didn't see the point in going out and spending a few grand on a nicer bike for my first one, where it has the bigger chance of being involved in an accident or dropped etc.

Once I have some more experience under my belt I'll get something a bit newer and nicer and probably bigger

Oil and filter, new front pads and a bleed through, ride it then discard it.

Paddy is only being derisive about it's value because he has a semi looking at it and will make you a knock down offer to buy it soon Thumbs Up

Ladies and Gentleman, We have an un-prescedented incident.
...Someone should take a photo, I don't think we will see such a rarity as Paddy turning down a bike again. Razz

Lol.

I know the sort of bike I'm after. Ideally want a GSXR1000 but not just yet.

I may as well work my way through some of the cheaper fun bikes I can nab from Father's collection.

Just a few of the collection
