Bought a yamaha dt 125 sm and have spent a fair bit of money on it, dont live in the best area and motorcycle thefts are regular, there is not enough room to be able to get the bike in the shed which has a heavy duty steel door and frame a two ground anchors inside, so the bike is left in the garden. Few weeks back someone tried to rob it but was unable to, since then i have fitted 3 ground anchors to go with 3 heavy duty chains and locks (front wheel, swingarm and frame) aswell as 2 xena disc lock alarms and a front brake lever/throttle clamp. The bike has a working steering lock and fully working alarm, the bike is covered up and there is a working security light out back aswell, anything else anyone can recommend doing to prevent the scum in my area from taking my pride and joy, any help would be much appreciated, thanks. Very Happy

Basically this. If we accept that the bike has to be kept in the garden, It doesn't sound like you can reasonably do anything more.

Really no way to fit it in shed? Or even in house? Otherwise move yourself, or at least the bike to safer area (store it at parents /friends house)?

Other things that come to mind are setting up CCTV and ensuring is properly insured so even if it is stolen you aren't as fucked.

Unfortunatley for me the shed door faces into an allyway which runs from the backgate to the garden an there is not enough room to move the bike to get it to fit in there, theres only just enough room to push the bike into the garden, as im living with the other half she wont let me bring the bike to bed so its stuck in the garden, thanks for the help. Wow, and I thought I was paranoid when some dicks tried to cut my bike chain. Smile

You have to think though, with what you've done so far you've made their job about as difficult as it gets. (If your locks and chains are up to scratch and kept off the ground)
If they manage to nick your bike now then you likely have a Nemesis out to ruin your life.

Have you considered adding some more ground anchors?

No idea if this is useful but for additional night security, I had a really, old, rubbish alarm system from the 80s which had the words 'wire loop' on the side. It is some kind of 80s-style alarm which goes off if it is moved, cut or disconnected.

The idea is to wake you up at night if someone has a go at your security device. In my case, my bike was parked in a clamp on my driveway. If someone wanted to a better look at the clamp, they had to pull the bin away which was connected by this alarm thingy. Alternatively, if they saw and cut it (it looks like a little lock with a feeble cable), the alarm would go off.

They would then be faced with a naked, 17 stone, Samoan-looking dude running at them which is the best security a bike can ever have.

It's rubbish in itself and I am sure there must be loads of better devices like motion-sensitive or laser-pointer alarms etc... but it's just what I had kicking around. It was quick, easy, convenient and was just there to help out with the clamp.

So the idea was security for my security which is as crazy as it gets but that's London for you.

As "gorillaonabike" said.

Look at alarming the gates/security of the yard. So any attempt to get into the yard triggers them.
That way you are looking at saving any damage to the bike by them attempting to get it off the locks etc.

Get a different bike. DT's are a favourite of the common chav for off-roading. Less chance of having a CG125 nicked.

DT125's and the like are 7x more likely to be stolen, I couldn't get theft insurance for my DR350SE from anyone except NU

Its easy to get in a panic after an attempt on your bike, ive been there too... couldn't sleep for weeks!
My bike is directly below my landing window.... i spent nearly every night hanging out of that window lol

Like you though, my bike has several devices on it, and it did enough to put the thief off this time.

To be honest, your doing all you can if the bike it staying where it is.

options are limited to
building another bike shed
move house
buy a bigger bike that doesn't appeal to kids scrambling with it... 125s are small and light, scroats love em :/

The last option is what i am doing in a couple of months Smile

Alarm mines https://www.henrykrank.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2964 everywhere, gate, ground around the bike, frame of the bike with the trips attached to the wheels. Even if your neighbours ignore an alarm there's a good chance someone will take note if it sounds like an infantry section is attacking your garden.

Just don't tamper with them to propel stuff that would be very naughty.

Strategically place a series of rakes around the exterior of the shed.
