Hi guys and galls

This is my first post on here so be gentle...

I have a Yamaha XVS950A Midnight Star and the headlight is not coming on at the moment? These bikes don't have an on/off switch for the headlight as it comes on automatically when you start the bike.

I have checked the bulb and its fine and have also checked the fuse and this is also fine. The main beam also doesn't come on when you press the main beam button?

Any suggestions?

Much thanks for any help provided.

Marc B

Probably has a relay somewhere that controls it, if so find it.
If there is one also check the charging voltage as if that is high it will blow relays.

once when I had the job of servicing a xv535 it too had an iffy headlight sometimes it worked or not ... turned out to be the connections inside the ignition switch itself .. I had to strip & clean all the individual contacts inside.. sprayin wit this crap or that gunk didn`t work.

strippin the ignition key assembly is not a garage job..
its a kitchen table wit standin light job..

a garage will simply replace the unit at an expensive price ..

battery .. plug in a battery charger and try switches whilst its chargin. ...

Thanks Copycat but I wouldnt even know hoe to remove the ignition switch tbh.

The headlight uses a 20a fuse and the parking light uses a 10a fuse. This might be a daft question but as a temporary solution, is it possible to swap the headlight and parking light fuses round and then feed the parking light power to the headlight?

I just don't have the money to put the bike in the garage at the moment.
