So 120 in total how offen do i need to fuel tank as dont wanna run it dry or need to pull over on m2 and put on reseve as switch stiff and hard to use when riding .

Iv nerver used reserve yet and last two days iv been puttin 15 or 20 in each morning . 20 each day and 100 a week seams bit exspensive for 120 miles a day . . How far could i stretch fuel before re filling thanks

It doesn't really matter how often you refill, you're using the same amount of fuel in the end - both amount and cost.

I'd probably get rid of the reserve tap though so you don't need to activate it. Just use the trip meter to tell roughly what fuel you've got left.

If we say your ZX6R does about 50mpg, then your 120 mile commute should cost you about £11.67.

If you are able to put in 20 quid a day, I would say you have a problem.

15 to 20 what ?????? £ or ltr. Going to make a big difference to MPG

Comeback with some figures when you have..

Filled tank and zeroed the trip. Filled up again and zeroed the trip. Get into the habit of doing this each time and you will soon know how much you have till you run out.
Also get the tap lubed up so its easier to turn before it totally sticks and leaves you stranded......

Then post miles done & amount of fuel put in.

miles/amount of petrol = *4.55 =MPG

Hi there as sayin iv only used it friday and today the bike is still new to me as is big bikes compaired to my old ybr .

only ever used around town few times since september nerver went low on fuel .
Friday was first day i filled it right up 20 pound and comuted on it . Then today i stuck 9 pound in as trip meter was on 123 .

Tank look like still was half full so prob did not need it after 120 miles but did not want to get stuck out as im a newbi thats why i was askin hear as hurd some people say it dose 140 some say just fill 130 miles and dont wait for reserve.

so i fort must be few ninja people on hear who could tell me roughly when to refill and how much it should roughly cost to do 120 miles so it dont cut out on fast lane on m2 5am.
Thanks adam

it all depends on yuor style of riding and speed you ride, my bike will do 60 mpg if I stick to 50 but will drop to 40 mpg at 80.

Why is it so hard to get information to help people.....

£9 is great. But how much a litre?

Could be anything from £1.05 round here to £1.40 in the bad lands Rolling Eyes

A wild stab @ £1.10 a ltr is giving you 68 MPG..

That is ASSuMe you only put £9.00 in.....

I think the question is How long will my fuel last on reserve and when do I need to fill up?

depends on riding style, but you will find your average over time for the main tank, as for the reserve, get yourself one of those funny green things, petrol cans most people call them, fill it, Leave our bike to go on to reserve, take said full can with you until your bike runs out of fuel. Then put the spare fuel n your tank and ride to the petrol station and fill up, Make a note of mileage used on reserve and that will be an approximate distance for you to play with on reserve.

Not much help to you, but I would get 150-160miles out of a full 18L tank on the J2 Ninja, before needing to turn the tap onto reserve. I would not want to risk more than 10miles of riding it at 50mph like your gran though once on reserve.

I'm not sure how many miles it is to Portsmouth exactly from Stourport, using the M42, M40, A34, but I ran out on the uphill section of M27 from Southampton to Portsmouth, and then switched onto reserve to make it onto the Ferry. I'd have been shitting myself if there hadn't been a petrol station less than a mile from Cherbourg docks though! Laughing
