 |
|
Hi,
I've been enjoying riding my bike here in the South of France. Rode it over toward the end of summer. Actually bodged the trip over from the UK as I got the train over to Calais at around 6pm with a plan to stop at a motel. Decided to keep going and ended up riding through the night to arrive at my destination at 7am.
13+- hours on a CBR 600 sucks. Phone died around 2am so it meant buying a French map and listening to the sound of wind for a lot of the journey. Couldn't fault the bike, and the xenon kit I installed made a huge difference to visibility. Got flashed by a camera once, and had a couple of deer jump out on me, but other than that (and every joint aching), it was smooth sailing.
Good roads here for riding a bike, although some of the more quiet country lanes have a lot of gravel which they use when filling holes.
Anyway back on track. The CBR is an amazing bike, but I just don't love it as much as my last bike. It responds well, and when I'm on form I can't help but peg it everywhere which is awesome. Biking for me though is about enjoying the countryside and the CBR's sitting position and inline 4 isn't quite relaxing enough.

So, I'm looking at selling the CBR and getting a naked V twin again. Looking for something comfortable that handles well, but also has plenty of torque for the bee in the bonnet warp drive moments. It has to be sexy, and set off car alarms with the right exhaust!
When I sell the CBR I'll have around £2.5k to spend so thought I would ask the forum to hear your thoughts on potential candidates?
After the naked SV I do appreciate the CBR's windshield, but can work around that. I've always fancied a monster, but would need at least a 900sie I think. Almost considering a bobber if I can find a cool one.
Anyway, all thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Antony

I may be biased, but have a look at the Shiver. The GT has a decent little screen and a 12v plug as standard, so you'd be able to charge your phone, too
You can more oomph from them by using Sport mode (a bit twitchy for every day though - use Touring most of the time) and by dropping a tooth on the front sprocket (16 -> 15).
You can get more noise out the back from all the usual suspects - Akra and Leo V's are popular, tend to be quite expensive new as there's 2 cans, but come up 2nd hand fairly regularly. ____________________ Honda Varadero 125cc => Suzuki Bandit 650 33bhp => 77bhp =>

Lol, yeah. Pretty sure nobody cares about the 100hp limit here.
Good call on the Corsaro 1200. Hadn't heard of that before. Looks like a fun toy. If only I could find one for sale and at a similar price to my CBR!
Not sure about the Tuono. S2R or S4R are both nice, although again a little out of my price range. Perhaps I'll hold on to the CBR this year and save for an upgrade next year. Did find a nice Triple 1050 on sale earlier today for around €4000 though.
