Bit random for Lidl to be selling them haha.

Must've had a fair order if they're nationwide...

Bagpipes look tempting...

Awww MC why are you sad about your birthday?
Any day when you can eat cake as well as haggis with neaps & tatties has got to be not a bad day.

Plus also, what clan tartan is that?
I can't see it on the list

Good god!
Lidls trying to get blokes to dress up in skirts with handbags on the front
and wear big girls blouses too?
The country going to the dogs I tell you
This is clearly a plot by those johnny foreigner shops to turn our fine young men into shirt lifters.

You wouldn't see that sort of thing in the Coop.

Certainly not the sort of attire to be worn in winter, I wouldn't have thought. Thinking

Nor whilst riding a motor bike either, come to think of it. Shocked

Nope, not just you. My first thought was that it looks like a thin cotton tablecloth.
I've worn one in the past and it's surprising how heavy a 'proper' kilt is. (quite comfortable too, I could have gotten used to it but there are only one or two countries outside of Scotland where you could get away with wearing one!)

Black Watch is a Campbell tartan. I'd be obliged to stab you, for auld lang syne.

I'm not a tartan or even a material snob (my casual kilt is synthetic) but given the creases apparent on that material I'd be astonished if it was more than a few ounces per yard. An 8 yard kilt should weight something in the region of 7lbs to drape well.

Still, you're not going to get better for £30 and it will yield infinity man points.

Apologies! I'm only half scottish, so forgive me. Its also what it said on the Lidl advert Embarassed

I don't think they have enough weight to hang well...

At one time in my life... i was wearing a kilt to a wedding in central Glasgow.. i would probably be called an Englishman by the scottish...
Shocked A word was not spoken by me during the event, least they learn that i didn't have a Scottish accent while wearing a kilt.

Went to a wedding in Glasgow, the bride was Scots, the groom Italian/Aussie. She took ages to pluck up the courage to ask if he and the best man would mind wearing kilts. They were almost more excited about getting to wear them than the wedding.

The only thing is, they made all the other blokes look under dressed!

When I married in Gretna and me, best man and ushers all wore kilts.
Plus it was on New Year's Eve.
A good night was had by all Very Happy

Might try and get the grey version, just for the memories Wink

If not I may have to resort to the Tartanista site, which looks reasonable prices for something that'll be worn once (or twice) in a blue moon (iirc Sgian-dubh's got from them for the wedding so could keep as gifts for those in kilts - rest of outfit hired).

Rode my bike to the pub on Christmas day, wearing a kilt, in the rain. It wasn't all that bad.
