If so, if the buyer has received the item and for whatever reason is unhappy with it, who pays the return postage back to the UK (From the US)?
They had requested a return for full refund which i have accepted. The current status is, 'Return Started'.
Also can they escalate this into an Ebay claim? They refuse to send it back and say i legally have to arrange delivery from the US to me.

No idea but I'd like to know the answer when you find it, I sold something and used the global thing in December and was wondering about what would happen if your situation occurred.

https://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/shipping-globally.html

Quote:
Consider your returns policy noting that your returns policy will now be displayed and applied to both UK and EU buyers. If you don’t want to offer free returns, you can specify buyer pays or control which of your listings are available to buyers through the Global Shipping Programme and which aren’t.

So, what you got set?

Expand the 'refunds and returns' section at the bottom of that link

Quote:
How do refunds work in case of returns?

If you accept returns, the way that refunds work depends on the reason for the return:
Buyer changes their mind – the buyer is responsible for sending the item back to you for a refund or exchange. You may either offer free returns or specify that buyers are responsible for the return postage costs. As for the original transaction, you’re responsible for the refund of the item and domestic postage cost only, i.e. the cost of posting the item to the UK Shipping Centre. For a refund of international postage cost please ask your buyer to contact eBay Customer Support and we will be responsible for refunding the buyers international postage cost, if applicable.
Item is not as described (seller fault) – you’re responsible for refunding or replacing the item and for refunding the domestic postage costs. eBay is responsible for refunding the buyers international postage costs.

Its a tricky one because they have requested a refund under the terms, 'not as described'. Instead of opening a not as described case, maybe shot themselves in the foot?

I have no refunds set on all listings, ive also since removed myself from the GSP because its a load of shit to be honest.
Ive come to an agreement with the buyer for a £10 partial refund, which is a lot less than the tax/fees i would incur once it comes back to the UK.
Never selling abroad again. It was a wedding ring IN SIZE X, for his WIFE to be Shocked

Nothing wrong with selling abroad - you just need to know the difference between UK and US ring sizes!

However a UK size X will always be a UK size X, the US uses a numerical system.
OP - maybe his 'missus' was a bloke Wink

The issue wasnt the size. Im assuming they looked up the UK size X and decided it is correct.

It's a nightmare

i sold a laptop as spares or repair and it went to italy, he gets it and says its not as described? so he opened a case etc, if i hadn't rang paypal up and told them the deal, they probably would have taken my money off me, but in this case, they let me keep my money and let the other guy get the laptop for free

couple weeks later he sells the laptop again on ebay looking exactly the same

The paypal guy on the phone even mentioned how much of an utter mess the global shipping program is because of people saying it's not as described

Tell them to return it, i bet they don't

What was the value of the laptop?
I cant even send the buyer a £10 partial refund now because the return case is open. I can send them £10 paypal gift but would be a bit risky and i'd be relying on their word that they will close the case afterwards

Selling on eBay just does not seem worth it, in fact buying is also a pain when its from a personal member over a business on eBay.

We have purchased something, don't need it urgently but the bullshit about putting it in the post and not is ridiculous... Just be honest with me.

Maybe its just transacting with people.

I've purposely stayed out of this because of the hassles of it all.

I use the Argos Click & Collect feature though, that's cool to sign up to so people can get it delivered there if they won't be in.
