I was just wondering if anyone knew roughly how much a cam belt change would cost on a ST1100 ?

Body work off, drain coolant, radiator out the way, covers off, ensure camshaft and crankshaft alignment marks are where they need to be, slacken tensioner, remove old belt fit new and retension, make sure timing still correct. Just about covers the basic process, someone with a basic knowledge, reasonable toolkit and a Haynes manual should be allright.

Just to add to the above; Ducati belts needs the tension checked. I'm not sure if these are the same.

I done a good few

Make sure you have lots of time

Belly pan and lower fairing parts off
Drain remove radiator
Remove front part of cam covers
Soak main belt cover screws in penetrating oil
Remove screws may need replete of penetrating oil don't use force or you will brake the cover or inner cover remove cover

Remove spark plugs and rotate engine until timing marks line up

Loosen tensioner remove old belt check water pump and idler wheel bearings and replace belt
Re-tension
turn engine over by hand and re check valve timing

Replace all removed parts fresh coolant

you done
