Recently picked up an old 125 from a nearby farm that needs quite a bit of work...

Managed to get it running after picking it up. As soon as I got it home I stripped it back to the bare frame to find out how much was rust and how much was dry mud.

It had no plastics or seat and the tail end was wrecked.

I've welded in a tail loop, cleaned it all down and it's getting sand blasted next week ready for a hand paint job. I'm just going cover it in Hammerite, I like the brush marks.

Known challenges:-
Stanchions are badly pitted - Looks like 31mm so will have to find replacements;
Snapped handlebars and the clamps look closer together than normal (80mm?);
Seat fabrication;
Tank appears to be emptying itself - only problem I can find is bad seal on filler cap;
Tacho cable snapped off at engine and bolt rounded off;
Half a centrestand attached and rusted onto bar;

Hmmm, having trouble finding stanchions which aren't pitted and as there's damage to the legs too I'm not considering rechroming my current ones.

Now getting interested in upgrading the forks and wheels on this little baby.

Can anyone confirm that the stem bearings on this bike are [Upper 22.5 x 41 x 12.5, Lower 24 x 41 x 12.5] like the CGs?

I don't think that gives me a great deal of options, but I love the idea of upside down forks on a battered old 125 lol

What do you guys think?
