I didn't flash my MT09 just for the power gains, like you said, that's silly. There was a heap of things it did, much like the R1 flash.

Disabled AIS system.
Reduced engine Decel
Radiator fan comes on at 88 degrees instead of stock 101...
Top speed limiter removed
Starts in A mode every time
Remapped to suit exhaust and air filter
Unlocked quickshifter function Laughing

It's completely changed the bike and my only regret is that I had done it sooner Thumbs Up

who did you use for the MT? I think i like this idea for my FZ1

Keir,

Try VeloxRacing - I think that link I've given you gives you the model specific service for the 06-15 FZ1.

Drop the chap an email, his name is Mike. Quite a prolific member on yamaha-r.co.uk and a load of the guys over on that forum vouch for him. He's actually matched the price of his reflash to the same as the ebay guys. Previously used to charge £180 but I know a fair few guys who run 4C8 and 14B model R1s give postive feedback from him.

Remove ECU, provide your details as to what you want done and he'll get back to you within the week with your flashed ECU. I would have used him at that price.

There are other local places which offer a similar service (basically using the FlashTune software) to manipulate the ECU parameters. - Doovy, you might also be interested.

Can revert to stock if you need to; keeps your original files. Thing is with Velox is that they offer multiple re-flashes if you change your exhaust or induction for instance. Urban Racer went one step further and bought the flash tune interface cable from them.

But saying that, aren't most ignition units running of a closed loop based on the lambda sensor anyway?

Keir, Google S-Tec performance in Newbury. I'm pretty sure he used to own a FZ1 so will have a pretty heavy developed flash for one.

I don't have a clue.

I know that flashing mine could well brick it. I don't mind tinkering with it if I find it a little flat but physically slamming a low powered map on there appears to brick the shit out of it. Laughing

I can also vouch for Velox-Racing. Got my flashtune kit from them a while back and its made quite a difference to my bike. Savage low down grunt and I like how much I can customise the ECU.

I can tell you that the power delivery transforms the bike. It's a shame we couldn't test it out today at Santa Pod for Doovy's birthday. A fair few of us were waiting at the Ace to head up, and I met up with Big Ham at On Yer Bike in Aylesbury. By which point the rain got silly and our kit was wet, with minimal chance or runs.

Nevertheless, considering me and Chris have had a similar bike history; we both ran ZX6R ninjas (F3 Vs B1H), FireBlades (929 Vs 954) and now R1's (4C8 Vs 5VY), I thought why not have the same side by side pics of our bikes again at the same location - Ducati Aylesbury. We didn't bother waiting for Shakey Byrne to turn up because by that point, we were cold and hungry.

Anyway, whilst initially making my way to the pod, 5 miles from home, I was confronted with THIS! Considering I was in my one piece with a hoodie on top!

I don't blame the guys for not rocking up to Doovy's day.
