I am to decide whether to do a 100 mile journey on the m1. In the next 30 mins. Will the motorway be safe or is there likely to be black ice? Won't be going nuts just 70.

I've gone more than 100 miles in snow and ice for a decent sandwich.

Man up....

(If you crash and die, it's not my fault.)

I wouldn't have thought there would be ice on the M1 however I am not taking responsibility and if you do go and die don't blame me.

To be frank, if there is ice on the M1 it's 6 feet deep and the whole country has been broght to a standstill.

I wouldn't worry about motorways, but the roads you have to do at either end are probably more important to think about.

I wouldn't recommend it. Your braking will be degraded in these temperatures, you get some idiot pulling out on you or slamming their brakes on and you'll be slippy sliding.

Yes, it's going to be really hard work wanking off outside the house of the person that you are currently stalking in minus C temperatures.

OP is currently sat warm on a coach, got the last one just in time. Witnessed a patch of water turn into ice earlier which put me off. Also running racetecs. This also worked out cheaper than the fuel I'd have used / bike I'd have trashed. Unfortunately forgot to remove my bike boots when I changed my mind so now I'm sat on the coach in them. Maybe I can make bike noises and pretend my hands are freezing.

P.S. no milfs

That will be fine since their brakes will be 'degraded' too.

The M1 isn't going to be icy it will be heavily gritted. Getting to the M1 is a another question.

Majority of offs in this weather are right at the start or at the end of your journey. Just as you turn into your street and WHAM, you're on the floor wondering how much a new mirror and clutch level will cost.

I can't even get the fucking bike down the drive when it's icy, our rural village doesn't get gritted and it's like a skating rink even if the main roads are fine.

Agreed, once caught bad heavy snow and managed to negotiate forty miles of it safely (slowly) even to the point of following a bus for the last three miles home. Two streets from safety a car decided to go for the gap Shocked behind the bus leaving me with the decision of brake / crash, don't brake / crash.

I braked / crashed ........... Confused

Wonder if you'll see more gritters than other traffic. Razz

It'll be really quiet therefore the speed limit doesn't apply. Have fun.

Bit late, but was absolutely fine from Doncaster way (I was in a van) - did have a little snow going south, but didn't last.
