Once again, my YBR125 has failed to start.
Charged the battery, used WD40 in the area where the battery is kept and checked for any faulty wiring. Can't find any. The immobilizer light flashes when power is off but nothing turns on when the ignition is switched on. When I try to kick start it, engine sputters out when I attempt to increase the revs.
Can anyone help? I haven't got the money to splash out on an overpriced repair job unless absolutely necessary.

Sounds like you have (at least) two problems:

Aftermarket immobiliser? I'd bin it. Well, smash it to pieces, then bin the pieces. Then set fire to the bin.

Nothing? No lights, no response from the starter, not even a clicking sound?

I'd check the fuse(s), and the main engine earth again.

So, it does kick start? Great, but dying on the throttle is a different issue than the electric starter not working. That'll be the fuel mixture, most likely. Have you fiddled with it at all?

Definitely an aftermarket immobilizer, but the bloke who owned it previously was an electrician and wired it up to the positive and negative connectors, no separate wires. Can't connect the battery without connecting the immobilizer.

There is no response at all once the ignition is in the "on" position. Haven't checked fuses yet.

Been going to the same petrol station every time. I'll check the fuel.

Carbed model, right? Don't rule out the efficacy of giving the float bowl a whack.

No, FI model. It's an '08.
