Compatible fairing on FZ600

Hey everybody, I have an opportunity to buy a 1987 left bottom side fairing for my Yamaha FZ600 1988. The guy claims it fits for 1986-1987 models, but I wonder if it would also fit on a 1988 motorcycle. The models all look identical in those 3 years.

Went to Yamaha online part and seen that the part numbers are different from years 1987 to 1988. But that could only be because yamaha assigns new part # every year.

What do you guys think?

Might well be the same moulding but just painted in a different colour.
