I'm planning on getting some sort of supermoto for my next bike but I'm planning to take my girlfriend out on it every now and again, from what I can see the majority are single seaters!

Does anybody know what supermotos have the ability carry pillions?

Any but it's probably far from ideal.

the three I`ve had all were fitted from factory wit suitable seats & foot pegs...
if your girlfriend is under 8st. you aint gonna have too much of a problem... but supermotos aint the best for pillions and I`d only do it if desperate.. il4 are much better suited.

DRZ400 variant ,ducati 796, MT-09 variants.

Why do you want a 'supermoto'.

An actually 'super' moto is generally a competition bike.

You get plenty of bikes that are slower and much heavier that'll take pillions ok.

Iv had sportbikes for years so im getting bored and the riding position hurts my past broken wrist!

I can't afford any sort of upright positioned street fighter type bike I actually like as my budget is about £4000 and I want something light, fun and that I can work on! So supermoto sounded like a good option Smile

The heavier supermotos aren't particularly light.

If you stick wide bars on most bikes they feel lighter handling.

For £4k you could buy a very high decent streetfighter - ie GSXR1000.

Or something 'factory' like a street triple.

Plenty of fun can be had on a low powered light bike, but that's rarely a good choice for a pillion.
I'd consider two bikes, which should be easy in your budget.

I've had a broken wrist which leads to problems too. Lots of practicing gripping with the legs and core and I can ride supersports no problem. Practically no weight on my wrists, even on a 749.

Most of them do have pegs but aren't suited for passengers at all. It will likely be slammed on its arse unless you 2 weigh 8 stone each. 4k is a big budget for SM, a 690smc has pegs, after I sold mine I sold the pegs separately for nearly £80 Shocked

As Irn-Bru says, I think it depends very much how much you both weigh. I regularly take the gf on the back, she is about 9 stone and I'm about 11 stone, so combined the same as one 20 stone fat bloke. Razz

This is on my Yam WR250X, I've even taken pillions on my old DT125, so both of these are small engines and not so 'super' (I don't have experience of whether bigger / more tuned singles would be a problem). So the engines should have no trouble (even if acceleration / braking is slower) more the suspension sagging lower / different handling / pillion comfort is the issue. Smile

To give an idea my Versys (bigger 650 twin) is rated for max payload of 180kg, and my WR250X is rated for 185kg. I think the DT was rated similar. So the frame / suspension etc should be able to take it.

I'd say if you are both reasonably light and you are taking her out just now and again, then I wouldn't let it stop you from getting the bike *you* want. No point in getting something super pillion friendly if it's not the bike you want the other 99% of the time.
