Hi, I have been asked today to convert a friends crashed r6 into a street fighter type thing, he has no idea what he wants, just as long as it looks minty, what I really need to know is any info on converting the clip on type bars to flat bars and how much longer the brake lines need to be, has anyone here done this to an r6?
Any info highly appreciated, thanks. Thumbs Up

Well he'll need to get a tope yoke conversion kit, ask your local bike shop about this is the best bet.

If he wants it to look mint then he needs a few idea of what he wants done. Just because you think it looks mint does not mean he'll agree, so he needs to have some ideas about what he would want it to look like to be classes as mint.

Never seen anyone on R6 Message Net talking about or even mentioning street fighering one, so you'll probably just get told to keep it the way intended, ask maybe on somewhere like Stunt Life about the brake lines length and fitting flat bars.

Thumbs Up

Hi, look in the Demon Tweeks catalogue on page 172. There is a CNC Machine top yoke bar conversion kit available from £101.00

It doesn't state what bikes the kit is available, but I've seen an advert for these elsewhere and remember the R6 to be included.

I think with a kit like this, cables and such are going to need to be measured by yourself once the bars are fitted.

Be warned, it seems like a weekends work to streetfighter a crashed sportsbike but the reality is its probably closer to a month of evenings and weekends to do a decent job, and thats if theres no hacking of the rear subframe.

One of the biggest problems is finding somewhere to put all the cabling for instruments and lights that normally lives behind the plastics. If you are going to put twin spots on make sure that you wire them via relays as the current draw will be higher. You will also need to keep some form of indicators as well. All the lights will need to be supported on some form of bracketry.

If your mate gets something like streetfighters mag for a few issues he will probably be able to pick a style he likes. Tell him to get all the pics he like together so you can figure out together whats do-able.

We have plenty of time Big Pete, as long as it rolls out my garage for next summer he will be happy but the way his mind keeps changing it may end up being my project. Rolling Eyes
