1. Try charging the battery fully, then after leaving it to stand for an hour, measure the voltage across the terminals.
2. Connect the battery back up, and try to start the bike.
3. Measure the voltage across the battery terminals again, and let us now what readings you got for 1 & 3.
Brand-new batteries can be faulty too! ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

If everyone has wound their necks in now?
Sounds like the current, main problem is with the (very simple) starter circuit.
So testing.
Short between the solenoid terminals with an old screwdriver. If the stater motor spins over, the problem is with the starter electrics.
If it doesn't, the problem is a flat battery, a duff starter motor or bad, high-current connections between the starter and the battery. Electronics/engine or even switch positions have nothing to do with it. If a working starter motor is correctly attached to a charged battery, shorting the solenoid will make it spin. End-of.
So. Will it bump? How do you know you have no spark if it wont turn over on the starter? ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
