Any Powerlifters, Bodybuilders, or Rugby players on here?

I've been trying to find a leather jacket, and can not get one that fits across my shoulders and arms.

The last one I tried was a 56, and even that was too small, even though in a suit jacket I'd probably be a 52, 54 tops.

It seems all bike clothing is sized on the small side?

Does anyone have any suggestions of a shop in the South East that may do something that fits?

I'm not a huge guy, 6'2, 110kg (17.5st), but have been a powerlifter for 20yrs, so have wide shoulders, and big chest and a small waist.

I knew finding a good fit would be difficult, but I didn't expect to have so much trouble just fitting into one.

My textile jacket is a 5x XL just to get my arms and shoulders in, and in normal clothing I'm rarely more than a 2x XL.

Experience has taught me that the size number given on motorcycle clothing is utterly meaningless other than to compare items of the same make and style (so for a particular jacket, a 58 will probably be a bit bigger than a 56).

It's an arbitrary number. You just need to try them on.

My latest gloves are XXXL. I have fairly average sized hands. I started trying a Large and couldn't get my hand in it and just kept trying until one fitted.

You'll probably find German brands a better fit than American. An American with a 40" chest is probably 5'6" with a 42" waist. A German is probably a six footer. The old Heine Gericke stuff (before they were bought out by American company then went bust) used to be cut sufficiently long.

Or you could go custom made. Expensive, but not as much more expensive than off the peg as you'd think. There are quite a few smaller companies doing bespoke leathers.

I done strongman training for a few years so I have the same issues, although I'm much shorter than you at 5'4''. The only jacket I've found that fits is a J&S own brand XL, it just fits around me, and is short enough. Their stuff seems to have large torso dimensions given the arm and torso length.

I'd be surprised if their stuff goes that big though, but worth a look.

My brothers fiancée is a clothing designer and is interested in making custom motorbike leathers, I'm going to pay her to make me a one piece racing suit soon. She has no experience in making PPE yet but she seems to know her way around leather

I would recommend using Scott Leathers, custom made to your exact size. I'm 6' 4" tall and they made my leather pants which are absolutely fantastic.

I'd suggest buying a bigger set on ebay or similar and getting it altered down to fit.

Cheaper than new, get better quality and money for the price.
